hm, all-star might hold him back. But untill he reaches that cap effectively, he can get in the U21 and NT team yes.

it all depends on how dedicated he will be trained and with what level trainer ofcourse.

But if I where NT manager, I would not turn down an SG that is better then an other, because the other has higher potential.
I'd always take the best available at that time...

I'm pretty sure that all-star potential is simply not enough to make an Italian national team. He won't reach enough skill points, regardless of training or trainer-level.

I just checked the Italian U21. Apparently it is possible to get there as an all-star. But it may change, since there was just the manager election a few days ago. I'll check it again in a couple days. But I still think it is very unlikely for an all-star.

if all-stars can't reach a U21 spot, then I think something is seriously wrong in this game.

I'm very positive that even with a lvl 7 trainer and single position training each week, this player will not reach his cap by the time he turns 22...

UNLESS he will get trained in 1 skill only, but then I don't think he will make the U21 anyway.

Okay, maybe we should get a bit more precisely here:)

I've been training SG perennial all-stars for quiet a bit and it seems that their cap lays at about 100 skill points overall. But more accurate I think, at about 80 skill points among the six "guard-skills". I just sold a trainee (perennial all-star) who reached 59 points by the time he turned 20. Hence, about 20 points are still missing. Lets say he makes 10 per season from now which would make him cap right at the end of his potential U21 career. An all-star will cap earlier. Maybe at approximately 70 points!? Which means he would not improve while being on the U21 team.

Thats why I think that it is unlikely for all-stars to become 21 players in competitive countries.

I used a lvl. 5 trainer btw.

10 pops / season ?

that's a lot !

maybe it is possible for small or big guys. I have been busy training in between guys to play SF. I didn't count, but I don't think I reach 10 pops/season, and I have lvl 6 trainer and always make sure my man gets 100% training on single position if possible.

I'm probably estimating it all wrong, as you seem to have the experience.
To bad for this guy then, as he is beautifull to start with. And I think it's a shame an all star is capped that early.... 20 years old,...that's early...

So how long do you think I could train a SF? He's superstar potential.

Well, Guards tend to be small:) A season has 14 weeks or so. Wait, right, lets say 7 pops:) Sorry, my bad, but I think my case is still valid to some degree. As I said, its unlikely, not impossible.

I don't really know about superstar potentials and I'm still training an SF with MVP potential. But he's only 21 so I cannot really say anything about it. It would be interesting to collect some data as Paper Pusher did (was that his correct name) but I remember he wanted to quit the game unfortunately.
