Allowing only U23 (or 22 or 24, I dont mind) to play in the cup would (in most cases) mean that the regular starters of most teams could play the regular league matches.

but what is with the backups, who need also playing time to stay in shape. Can i play my starters just in one match each week(and then still got bo good minutes for starter and backup) as a starter, or is it impossible to have backups older then 23/24 ...

In addition, the cup would become a completely new challenge where also teams from lower leagues have chances of making it to the later rounds.

that is probadly the case, because i could lineup a 3 men lineup which includes two minutes killer with my current roster. But is the winner then still the german/italian champion, or did it become a championship which said nothing about the club who win it(ok that he look at young player instead of keeping their stars, out of the training spots).

Your first argument defineatly touches a point. It might be solved by having a weekly scrimmage independently of the cup.

The second point I see somewhat differently, because the 3+2 lineup that you describe probably would not have a chance to win the cup. Maybe the winner should not be promoted to BBB then.

the second point, was a look at my team which had exactly 1 player below 24 who plays in the rotation and two other guys who are minute eating scrubs ;)

Interesting idea but not a good one, most managers don't have 6-10 players who are U23. Also it would could lead to lower division teams(D.II, D.III, D.IV) winning the cup and getting killed in B3 the next season.
But your idea is very interesting. Maybe there should be some kind of youth(U23) cup or competition that takes place on Sunday. The games would have no impact on minutes or merchandise, fan survey, etc. It would be just for fun. It would encourage mangers to have more trainees and have younger guys on the team. Maybe there could be awards for winning, or being the runner up or getting to the quarter/semi final. Maybe free supporter or a certain amount of money.

Actually I think you have hit the nail on the head right there. What if, for supporters only, there was a world youth cup that ran every Sunday in arcade mode? It would be the cup version of private leagues. It should have no real in game reward but perhaps some cosmetic rewards would be possible (naming a draft pick, 3 months free supporter etc).

This is a great idea. This will help promote training.

Of course the cup winner should not qualify for BBB any more.

And yes, some teams might find themselves in a position that their current rosters dont really fit into the proposes age rule (btw... I dont care if the cup should be limited to players younger than 23 or 25 whatever).

The idea behind was actually to give younger players more practise possibilities and reward teams that invest into younger players.

In my opinion, an easy improvement should be eliminate the home court advantage in cups. Why starting with neutral arena only when the cup in almost over?

This feature would make the cup better and more fair
