I'm guessing he means that he trained jumpshot, but didn't get a pop.

But your player can still change positions, since their jumpshot skill with sublevels increased. Hence the switch of positions.

Even if your trained players do not get a green arrow, they improve in the area in which they are trained. In your player's case, his JS improved enough that his salary calculation changed him from PG to SF.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

The game decides a players best position as the one that would give him the highest salary if the season would end right now. The game calculated his SF salary to be higher than his PG salary so his "best"'position changed from PG to SF, but he is a better PG that he was before he was trained.

The dude who won my league in season 14 was running with only SFs and Cs and he did quite alright(obviously), so it doesn't really matter what the game suggests as long as the player can perform well at said position.
