You have good advice here already. 1 more quick thing to look at is height. For example, I had a 6'2 player labeled position was SF. However, he never played SF because of his height disadvantage. I always had him as my SG or at times PG. Height is very important factor in this games when it comes to how well they train at a certain skill and how they match up against others in certain positions. Anyway, don't forget to consider height as well.

Actually height means absolutely nothing when it comes to how you match up against others in certain positions.
It may be tougher to train a short guy in big man skills but...
When he gains that skill, a prolific IS is the same whether you're very short or very tall.
Same for all skills

After having 3 pops (including 1 pop in FT) from the training in last week, my 18yo MVP changed from PF to SF.

The rating when he plays as PF is still higher than when he plays as SF, so he's a PF for next scrimmage.
