Round 1: Sharks inch ahead 78-77
The season opener is behind us, and after the first round of games, the Sharks have taken a miniscule one point lead in the ladder, 78-77. Koopasaurus dominated Chumunga 90-48, giving him the number one spot. The rest of the sharks did not fare as well, with the Calamari's Winnerz, Goldfish and Seagulls holding the rest of the top 4 positions.
The inter-federation battle of the week was between Division 2's TeamAkuma and the ABBL Seagulls. The game was a close one in the first half, with the Seagulls heading back to the locker room at half time holding a shaky 6 point lead. However, a dominating Seagull performance in the fourth quarter, and Smeltz fouling out ultimately lead to a blowout win for the Seagulls. Smeltz was seen running suicides after the game as pennance for his atrocious defense.
Over on the East side, the competition failed to start. Rumours indicate a pre-season celebration was held on the eve of the season opener. As a result, Shepperton shooter's Ezyfrag was found in a gutter in King's Cross early on friday morning, too drunk to sign the private league charter to start the season. The Eastern Conference has been delayed by one week, and will start on Friday the 22nd March.
Looking ahead, a sizzling series of inter-federation matches are lined up, with the Goldfish looking to gulp down TeamAkuma, Awesome looking to awe the seagulls, and The Winnerz looking to er...win against the Coin Collectors.
Friday, 6pm. Be there!
Edit: Newsflash - the Reporter had a brainfart and totalled up the numbers incorrectly. The Sharks actually lead the Calamari 78-77 thanks to the prowess of Koopasaurus!
