I believe that the effort for the game is not shown in the team or matchup ratings, but yeah, you got hosed on that one. The fact that it wasn't even close makes it look even more strange.

Seriously. A complete starting lineup does not lose to a 4-player lineup by 20 points. And how were we even in rebounds when my rebounding was 2 levels higher than his?

Lol, all i can say is that its happened to me before and thats why im not going to make playoffs this season :(

This will not only likely prevent my reaching the playoffs, but possibly push me to a relegation game. This win would have put me one game in the clear in 4th place.

He did crunch, you did TIE (when that happens the difference is always quite massive) he was at home, he did have by far the best player playing and I don't really see where you dominated the ratings.

Frustrating, sure, but I''m not entirely sure I see the huge injustice that you see. He crunched because he thought that might make up the gap and he was correct.

He didn't crunch. He played normal. He's been tanking all season.

And so he had one strong player? He also had a couple of low level bench warmers.

How can this not be an injustice? How is it realistic for 4 players playing an entire game to beat an entire squad...???

I'm 100% certain he crunched.

My question to you would be why were you playing TIE on the road against a quality team?

What do you mean a quality team?? He a winless last place team that has tanked his whole season and that I beat by more than 100 points the last time we played! I need to keep my enthusiasm up for tough games in the last couple of weeks and he was going to play 3-4 players the whole match.

Who WOULDN'T TIE against that scenario???

And how is a 4-player team with 2 bench warmers - one of which has like a 5000 DMI - a 'quality team'??

How so? How would that even make sense? It can't make a difference for his season at this point...

Mighty Ballers looked like the only team trying out there.

I guess he pulled a fast one on you. He probably crunched with that lineup as an experiment.

I didn't realize he was tanking, MB was was in D1 a few seasons back.

Yeah, I know he was - but he's in rebuild mode.

And even if he DID crunch, you'll never convince me that a 4-man team could beat an entire lineup. 4 people on a court at one time simply cannot outplay 5 if they're even close in talent. That's simply not realistic. That's putting numbers on paper ahead of how a real game plays out - and that is clearly a game mechanics issue.

As I said before, the difference between crunch and TIE is pretty massive. The TIE team rarely wins those scenerios and when they do, the games are generally close. Add in homecourt advantage and he probably starts with a 40 point advantage before you've even taken the floor. It's a perfect storm for a huge upset and that's exactly what happened.

Plus it's far from a mistake in the game engine, when I was in D4 many seasons ago I beat a D2 team in the cup with my $30,000 starting lineup using this exact formula.

I"m not sure what good it does being angry, to me it's just a learning experience on how the game engine works and helps show the value of enthusiasm and homecourt. This game would be far more boring if it was virtually impossible for an overmatched team to pull off an upset. I'd be frustrated that a team out of it played crunch on me but not much you could do to see that coming.

I'm all for underdog upsets. But we're not talking about a lower division team with a major upset - we're talking about a 4-man team beating a 5-man team by 20 points.

Regardless of any bonus homecourt and crunch might give, what about a bonus a team should get for having more players on the court? And what about a penalty for never resting your players?

Look at it from a POV of realism. If 5 players are playing 4, they can never be properly defended - there's no way that team is getting 15 offensive rebounds, let alone 35 defensive rebounds! Especially when my rebounding was 2 levels higher than his.

Every point attempt for my team should have an advantage, since he cannot properly defend me and there is ALWAYS a man open.

His 'best player' would be at a huge disadvantage, because I could always double team him and STILL have all of his other players covered. There's no way that player is scoring 50 points.

Completely unrealistic.

He played 5 guys, the 5th guy or lucky fan just isn't very good. But he did have 8 rebounds, 2 steals and a block in this game. Plus you let his two star players score 101 points between them. That's your bigger issue.

Think about it with an extreme example. IF the Miami Heat were playing a mid level college team and James, Wade, Bosh and their 12th man then pulled a guy out of the stands to be their 5th, wouldn't you still bet on the Heat to win that game? That's kinda what happened here. And the crunch + homecourt vs tie advantage made him the Heat vs your college team as far as the game engine could tell.

The game engine does draw a line drawn on when a team isn't good enough to beat your team in this scenario, you just don't like where the BB makers have put that line.

Have to agree with the Palominos
not just 4 players but 2 of them under $3000 salary
every team plays them TIE all season and wins by an average of about 80 points
