I pick USA and Spain too for the Finals. The USA for the talent, of course, and another powerhouse in Spain National Team for the home court advantage. Maybe it will be Spain def. Argentina and USA def. Lithuania in the Semis.

My country, the Philippines is also part of the tournament after a three and a half decade World Cup qualification drought since 1978 when Manila was the host. Probably, winning the cup is more of just a dream rather than a goal for the national team right now. Hopefully they will leave something memorable and impressive regardless of their finish and most especially let themselves enjoy the tournament.

Laban Pilipinas!

USA really has a lack of big guys.. And this is why i can't understand why Kryzewski wants to say bye to Drummond (at least our social media says so).

But even without your big guys and all time greats, I think, that your team is still powerfull, just the thing is, that Lithuania, Spain and every other team, now has a bigger chance to win against USA, than ever before;). We might have even won in the last Olimpics if it wasn't for Durant and LeBron:)

So - welcome back to the list of the worlds strongest basketball National Teams:).

And I'd like to ask, what's the goal of Philippines?:). What your basketball federation wants from your NT?

Last year it was a suprise for me, when you didn't manage to get to TOP8 .You had a really good team, but on the other hand, you had a coach which has a lack of imagination in the court... So, yes, your point about the coach is really importaint.

Sorry for underestimating you, I forgot about the last (or in the one before last) we also had such situation, that our starts declined the invitation to the NT. We had a young, bloodthirsty team, which managed to win the third place, so that's what i wish you:).

You are totally right but for now i think we can make an exception for this big event.

Thanks for the exeption!

I don't know what happened to China, but Russia is playing at the qualification tournament at the moment;).

When Lithuania played against Australia, Exum wasn't anything good... 1/6FG, 3 fouls. Wasn't shining in defence too.

About spain - all 3 playing:)

Thank you sir. They said that they just want finish strong in the first round and enter at least the round of 16 by winning a couple of games. Probably play strong against lower ranked Senegal and score at least one upset against Argentina, Greece, Croatia or Puerto Rico. But it would be difficult (but not impossible) because they are the shortest team in the group.

As you see, Philippines just made their way into the worlds after many decades. They have been successful because of improvements in the management of the national federation. Right now, it is more about rebuilding the international presence of Philippine basketball and being competitive rather than becoming dominant instantly.

Philippines did the the first leg of their training camp in your country too last year for the FIBA Asia Championship. Had a couple of games against Lithuania U21 Team too and some against other professional teams.

About China:

They have played rusty in the last FIBA Asia championship in Manila. They ranked 3rd out of 4 in the group (of death) together with South Korea and Iran. They were eliminated by streak shooting Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) in the quarterfinals via a come from behind win. Yi Jianlian was also injured that time and Wang ZhiZhi was not as dominant as he was in his prime. I heard they tried to bid for a wild card spot in the worlds but withdrew the bid even before the selection.
