I think this is a bad idea. It punishes teams with good player rotation because teams that always play the same line-ups, and always play the same starters will benefit from this, while teams who try to puzzle their players into the games to get them all equally minutes will play all players as starters and as back-ups once in a while...

I think the game benefits more from managers who once in a while change some things about their team. Rotate players, refresh players,...
This would encourage managers to rust in their habits, always keep the same players, play the same line-ups,... boring.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

It certainly produces a tension between short term effects and longer term planning, and economics vs. team performance.

If someone never changes their team and never logs in, they really won't benefit.

It also has role playing value, for example the bonus All Star votes.

There could also be supporter lagniappes, perhaps fan favorites could have a player blog, or additional action pictures.

And what about on the other way?

Is not necessary to have from this feature any extra money (shirt sales, whatever)... however is normal that if there is any player which plays excelent for a very long time - his younger or weaker fellows will start to honour him more and will give to him slightly more chances on the field to show himself...

...there could be every time only 1-2 (just a little amount) of stars of the team, however if there are - they should be liked by your players... even with a negative effect if you sell him (falling GS or something)
