Man, I played a somewhat tough div. III on the road last round, and now have a NBBA team on the road. Can someone please explain to me why the Cup is random? It makes absolutely no sense. I'm gonna lose a crapload of money due to bad luck. Ugh.

That sucks. I won't pretend to explain why it is random, though, and I'll contain my rant about the random venue as well. Well, except for the following sentence. I haven't had a home game yet (and neither have UHRojos, BC Dynamo or Shock Wave), whereas Lucas Losers & Team Hamburglar haven't yet gone on the road in Cup play.

I suppose Yjet has the most to bitch about though, with Pinny a close 2nd...

I seem to have the best luck in cup games. I've been knocked out three times by div.4 teams and my other loss was by an nbba team

Well, I'm done.

And I think my team set a club record for fouls (36).

Edit: Nope, had 40 fouls in my loss to Flood this season.

However, it does shatter my record for fouls in a cup game (29 vs. San Jose Sharks, Season 5).

Me too. I considered putting up a fight against my NBBA opponent, but then figured it would ruin my training cycle, game shape, and enthusiasm, and really, now that cup games only give you $25k per game, is it really worth it?

I was having the same problem (mostly with game shape).

And it actually goes up to $30,000 this coming round. Not that you couldn't have made more than that playing a bot away last season, but I digress.

The rest of the payout:
# Final Game: $ 250 000
# Semi-Final: $ 100 000
# Quarter-Final: $ 75 000
# 16-team round: $ 50 000
# 32-team round: $ 45 000
# 64-team round: $ 40 000
# 128-team round: $ 35 000
# 256-team round: $ 30 000<--next round
# 512-team round: $ 25 000

its still not worth it .its simply rediculous. so even if i win this round and the next one, im up to 40k a game? id rather win my league games and get just 1 game of playoff revenue TYVM

agreed. probably the only bonus for being in it is to maybe gain some enthusiasm on a TIE.
i just think it's funny that my NBBA cup opponent from last week now plays a div V bot. ha! the randomness has to go.

I dislike the randomness, but it does add another tactical dimension to the game.

I'm more upset about the money for the cup games. This season I made less than 200k for four cup games, whereas I made more than that last season splitting the income from 2 home games.
