I think it works when you compare the game replay to the stats from that game. It doesn't take long to check who scored, rebounded, assisted, etc., the most and then check the replay to see where they started. If they didn't start, it's a bit random just picking a time to jump to, but doesn't take long.

i am currently working on an alternative to the zonal ratings... it isn't ready quite yet, but perhaps when it is we will implement it in a way that users see them both ways and give feedback.

The central idea though is that what is most important is matchups.. and dominating someone defensively is not as powerful as dominating them offensively. I'm also considering giving players a defensive statistic... basically how many points their men scored on them, combined with what percentage they shot.. with extra factors for steals, blocks, etc...

i'll give you my suggestion (as usual :D) about the Game reports:

(1) I think we can completely drop the ratings. Forget them, remove them. Seriously, stop to think about this for a second. I know we are used to them from HT, but they need that on HT, is the only way. But here we have a huuuuge number of stats from the game, that by itself give you a great perspective of what happened in the game, and why one team or the other won, and what you need to worry about against a team, etc.

(2) but then we will need some extra things, related to what other people were asking and complaining here. The game report page should show in which position each player played in the game. You don't need to show the number of minutes in detail, but at least the positions he played in (in order of the positions he played the most). Ex: Marcel Natividade SF/SG (which means played as SF and also as SG, but more on the first one). Would just be one more column in the boxscore.

(3) To use the place in which the ratings used to be, I suggest putting the basketball court with the little "X" and "O" for the shots. This way you can see the zonesin which the teams were stronger, in a very direct way. (I know that means importing flash stuff into the asp page, or finding some other way, but I know this information can be brought somehow)

yes, you are right, that's one more argument to support this suggestion. We should focus more on analysing the players and the strategies used, not the zonal ratings.
