The Draft

"With the 24th Pick in the Season 21 IV.29 Draft, the Mountain Eagles select,..........Floyd Reid, Senior, LSU."

Gutsy call isn't it? "Stupid" is what one fan said. "We're never gonna have good drafts under tough." another said. "F*** the draft! Go to Free Agency Eagles and get the guy y'all REALLY wanted" Well, that's what fans were saying during the IV.29 Draft. At Pick 8, Mountain Eagles wasted their chances and drafted Reymond Strickland, from California. "I wasted my chance, stupid draft." So then GM tough made one of the strangest calls in history, giving the 19 year old a chance. "Might as well gamble. Heard that there haven't been any good Bigs in the draft lately. Let's make this he 1st." So then the commissioner announced that Blue Sox had already made their pick and Mountain Eagles were on the clock. "Let's risk it." So then, they took LSU Senior Floyd Reid, a 5th Year Senior from LSU.

Floyd Reid was going to LSU in what was supposed to be his Senior Season. Though in the 3rd Game of the Season against Vanderbilt, he got hit hard in the ankle, and torn his ACL. He had to go through surgery and weeks of recovery, while the NCAA was debating on to give him a chance. They did. So then Reid goes back for his Senior year and puts up good numbers, not as stellar as before, but still good, good enough that it had scouts looking. So then, Reid was interviewed by tough's scouts and said they may be looking at him if they don't see anyone else worthy of a spot. there you go, now you're seeing him in his Mountain Eagles cap. "I am very thankful to be given this opportunity to be given a 2nd Chance like this. I've liked basketball and it has been my dream to be a player playing for a team. I guess I got my dream tonight. Eagles, y'all won't be dissapointed in me. I will try my best to improve the best way I can." "I know this is a move that some people say stupid, but sometimes you have to give people a chance. I think Reid is one of these people. After seeing how disappointing Strickland was when we actually saw him face to face, I was real mad. But I'm giving this guy a chance to learn. He was projected top 15 last year until he torn his ACL. We could be seeing a new star, and Floyd Reid may be that one."

A lot of critics have been seeing the lack on inside game Reid has, but all he said was, "Never Stop Improving." and walked away.

From Phoenix, Arizona, this is Derrick Alston reporting for The Eagle. (yes, the draft was held in Phoenix)
