Ok, so please don't say that zone defense boost the defense if you don't have idea about the minimum skill that you need to stop your opponent. We can also say that someone has lost cause he scored 1 basket less but this cannot help to understand anything don't you think?
Ps. No need to answer to my question :p

I am not criticizing this new GE, just trying to understand

(13055727)

There's def some bizarre stuff going on. The most confusing part is trying to reconcile why the team ratings and matchup ratings appear to be telling opposite stories. I know it's best to look at them both in unison, but they're so far apart I have to wonder if team ratings are better to ignore.

Also, it does seem that guards are taking a lot of shots for teams playing inside. I've noticed this even when the pf/c have high PP100 ratings.

There is more to reading a boxscore than blindly comparing team ratings and PP100 values.

All in all my point is that even for someone that has alot of experience with this game it really hard to imagine how this game managed to go into overtime. Thanks for all the elementary detail though, that was fun.

All in all, however, the right team won by 12, so I don't see any problems with this game.

Kinda, they won by 12 in OT.

I understand there should be a random factor to a GE and in the past (in which case it's possible been understated).

In this case, the home team was the stronger team, nailed the tactics, and was better at distributing more shots to the highest efficiency players. Should have been a blowout barring some major discrepincies in rebounds, fouls, free throws, blocks, etc., which there wasn't.

This was either a rare case of extreme random factor or there's something that's missing from what can be explained by the box score. Since this is a new GE I'm curious its the latter, esp in light of the rarity of this type of upset in the past.

You should remember that the GE is looking for the best shot on each possession, and they only managed to find a good shot inside on 25% of their total shots. That's god-awful. On the other hand, Chicago shot close to 50% of their shots through their strongest PP100 (PG/SF).

i never understood those matchups ratings, weaker ine very position but nearly the same overall percentage.(or should i say the sligthly better one)
