I understood from the announcement that the intention was to restrict the teams making huge profits each week and thus pushing up inflation. I'm pretty certain that isn't me.

Excellent point. I feel the same with a totally different perspective:

When I started in 10/07 I was put in division IV, other teams were randomly distributed in div. II or III and started out with much more income. I bought, trained and sold some talents (no daytrading) and steadily invested every $ in a quick improvement of the team. This is buying good trainees, training hard and accepting high wages, expanding arena, high level staff, etc.

I did this because I saw and feared the differences between the divisions being so strong - so I badly wanted to be in a higher division. I am in div. II now and somehow expected this to be "payback time" in terms of at least not having a deficit anymore.

But right when I arrive the revenues are cut. Frustrating...

The 40% should have costed you about 120k, I don't know if that is payed with the next update or directly "at the gate", but even then it doesn't add up...

I'm either just lucky or my expectations were just lower. I never expected to rake it in when I got to the higher levels. I figured by the time I got there, the players wages would take up most of my income. I think that's what the BBs have tried to do with these changes.

A little history:
I started in DIV as well, and also invested in decent players and arena upgrades slowly over seasons 3-5. I had one of the largest arenas in USA DIII, but it wasn't huge.

I never outspent my income and made a decent profit each season. I never noticed what kind of profits the teams in the leagues above me were making, so as I said, I wasn't expecting a windfall when I moved up.

Near the end of last season, when it became apparent that I'd likely promote to DII, and after the BBs announced the changes, I upgraded my arena again to put it on par with the other DII arenas.

Now we're a week into the new season. A quick economic check:
In my first home game, I made 180k after the players took their chunk. More than I'd made in any home game before. With the TV money, it's more than enough to pay my bills.

As long as I win most of my games, I'll do alright. I won't make as much as I did last season, but I'll cover my expenses and have a bit of a profit. If I don't win most of my games, I don't belong in DII.

This period of BB feels like HT circa-2006. I think that was the timeframe. HT dropped the ticket prices, and incomes fell, as did player prices. It became more important to do well in the league to keep your balance sheet positive than just train, sell, rinse, repeat. You could still make money training, just not as much. I enjoyed HT much more then, and I hope that's the way BB is going. It balances the game nicely.

Of course, these are just my observations, and they're probably wrong. But it's the way I see it.

Do you mean you're getting as much money? Or actually making as much (after all incomes and outcomes)?
