Announcer: as we hit the halfway point of the campaign it is a dead heat between the two sides. Even though both sides have seen there leaders step to the forefront the battle for supremacy between the two sides rages on.

Wadsworth and Deronimo tangle in a matchup between two clubs trying to stay in the playoff hunt. Though for Wadsworth the margin for error is much slimmer.

The Pistons will continue to try and pull away from the rest of the pack but they have s tricky assignment as the Macs never make it easy at home.


The masters will try to keep pace in club red while the nation will get another chance to see how well their recent additions can state to take root.

Fierce will try to hold serve to stay one game behind 2 as the cellar dwelling spiders come calling

While 2 will be looking to maintain their slim lead as it is the recently upgraded but still stuck deep in the relegation zone generals who are in town.

Good Game Coach Joe,

One injured starting guard, another starter in game in the 1st quarter, then another back-up guard later in the game. We still had a chance. I am proud of the young'uns and old farts who showed some heart. But, too many men down. /tips hat.

Thanks, I was only able to catch a short snippit of the game live last night. It was anyone's game tied at 72 going into the 4th. Seemed like a hard fought back and forth battle from what little I got to see. I was relieved to see today that my team prevailed in the end. (bullet dodged)

I've been playing for a little over 12 full seasons, half of that time learning the hard way what not to do. About 4-5 seasons ago, I wrapped my head around the on-court tactics of this game and built a division 4 monster, and dominated that division. So, I finally promote to this division, and I'm losing every game, losing money, and even losing every bidding war on the transfer market. My two most talented players are also my youngest and highest paid, one of whom I am still training. I think I do well enough with the X's and O's, but the $ is killing me. My arena is smaller than it should be for this division, and I haven't learned how to turn a profit on the transfer market. Well, I have at least a couple of choices. One, I can struggle to avoid relegation, but I think it's a long shot. Not to mention, how long can I afford to stay here? Two, sell one or both of my stars, keep losing, go back to division 4 and rebuild. Any thoughts?

I think you have too much ground to gain to get out of the cellar. But fight to the bitter end, you never know.

The arena is a touch small but not the real issue. The issue is you have way too many players. Keep your studs, keep enough depth to fill a 8-10 man rotation and sell or in the case of those freeloaders at the end of the bench ....well time to bring them in for the talk. https://youtu.be/m9GJXYU3KDY

Hello Spiders - on your team, you have too many players and not enough seats in your arena. 1) no need for 20 players. Real NBA teams only run 12 deep, with the last fewer being benchwarmers. For your team, you need 5 good starters, plus 3 decent backups. Plus you will then have a few extra trainees (number depends on if doing 1 or 2 position training, plus how many trainees are included in your starters/subs). Then maybe a couple of cheap losers to play/backup your regular subs in mid-week friendlies in non training slots once out of the tourney. (You Don't want to run your regular starters out in those games - risk of injury in a meaningless game, plus form drop due to too many minutes played.)
2) arena too small. Through mid August you sold out the first three seating types for many games in a row. Only now, with your team struggling are fans staying away. Think of how much more money you could have made if you had more seats during that sellout streak. (Don't add any more VIP seats - never sold them out during your July to mid August attendance run). In addition to building a team, one also has to master the financial aspects of Buzzerbeater. Good luck.

I agree with the other coaches about your roster, its too big, trim it down to 11-13 players. That will save you some money.
Your roster still looks like a D4 roster. I would have made upgrades at the start of the season on your weakest positions to be competitive at this level. Its a little late now so I would probably invest in some young trainees and go back to D4 and rebuild. Keep adding to your arena and adjusting your prices. Be ready next time with rising young talent and/ or money to buy upgrades at the next level.
Its tough to make money in this game and be competitive at the same time but keep trying. Good Luck.

Well all good advice, so I am going to go a different route.

1st - you happen to be in one of the hardest DIII leagues I have ever seen.
2nd - I would think about selling everyone and starting over unless you savage something out of your MVP big men.
3rd - You're vision to win D4 was good but that's about as far as your chapter went. Think D2 or D1 when you build again so if you promote you can hang in that league and prosper.
4th - Get a good draft pick to help you out or for $$$.
4th - Arena enuff said.

Thanks to all of you for your replies and help so far. I know no one wants to give away their ultimate secrets on how to win it all, but I still feel like I am missing some of the basics. So I have three questions.

First, I know that the goal is to build a D1-2 monster, and that it is going to take some bank. I also see that I need to build my arena and make some roster cuts. But there's more to making money in this game than that. As I think about allowing my team to relegate or fighting it tooth and nail, is it easier to make money in D3 or D4?

Second, I have no delusions of making the playoffs this season. My only hope is to get out of last place and win the relegation game. To do that, I need to pick up one, maybe two hired guns. On average, how much should I expect to pay for such a player who could be a competative starter in this division?

Third, if I am going to relegate and turn my team into a money making machine, then there's something I have to know. How does one make a profit on the transfer market? I know it has to do with buying low, training them and selling high, but that high resale price has to be higher than the original buying price and the cost of weekly salary while training him, otherwise you don't make a profit. X-(Y+Z)= profit or loss.

First, I know of no secret to making money in this game on the transfer wire or otherwise. My teams rarely make money because I like to spend it on player salaries to help me win/stay competitive. I know other teams are rich as hell but mine is not, my success has come from building up my arena and training my own players. I never had the time to scour the transfer list to look for bargains.
Your arena will make more money in higher leagues as long as you remain competitive. So there is the rub. To remain competitive you need more expensive players. As soon as you advance you must raise ticket prices at the next level.
