So you all mean that this behavior is acceptable here? You can run up the bids if you think it doesn't go high enough. Is it what you mean?

The owner doesn't have to sell a player unless he's satisfied with the price. You don't have to buy it unless you're satisfied with the price. I still don't seem a plausible explanation of what exactly the problem is.

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

However, the owner is raising the bid at his own risk. If he raises the bid and nobody bids, he loses a portion of the money he bid AND gets the player back with a lower % value in sales. I would not advise ANYONE to raise the bid in their own auction.

I don't think this will happen. Look at ebay - there is no 3 minutes and people bid even a few days before the end of the auction (and man, these are real money! :-)).

Changing this system would be very difficult, indeed, and though I like ebay system more I got used to this and have no big problem with it.

Ebay have another system then BB where it could make sense to bid earlier

in ebay you bid 10 bucks early, but only pay 5 bucks when you don't find someone who bids more then that.

In BB with this proposal you will pay ten from the beginning, and in the end you just had to outbid at the end of the bidding arena, and nobody could react so if you wait long you could get a pretty good deal.

Yeah I know this and that was what I meant by "changing this system would be difficult" - I meant BB system to current ebay system. I think these are the only two real possibilities how to create meaningful bidding system - either you set 3 minutes or you set maximum bid system. And if BBs change this system, they would have to change to ebay system and that would be dificult I guess. And moreover and I cant see any reason why they would do this.

the ebay system won't come, they like the activity aspect which is maybe also good for the ad income where ebay gets money for high bids who they maybe spend to advertise sneakers here^^(don't know it exactly, i don't see ads)
