Slovenia U21 ends Philippines U21 consolation tournament campaign, 73-58 (76026)
Ljubljana, Slovenia -- Slovenia U21 showed the spectators why they're the number 2 seed in the consolation tournament, hence their impressive win against number 15 seed, Philippines U21, 73-58. Slovenia U21 held Philippines U21 to only 9 points in the first canto, and they never looked back.
Maksimilijan Dobrilović led the Slovenians in scoring with 22 points, followed by Jernej Barbek and Lenart Serncar with 16 and 12 points, respectively. Serncar also grabbed 16 boards. The defensive presence of Luka Šimenc was also felt as he swatted 5 shots and hauled 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Philippines U21 was only held to just 58 points, which is now Philippines U21's lowest point output since the start of the tournament. On the forefront for the Filipinos were Froilan Villablanca and Wang Tiankai with 19 and 10 points, respectively. Manny Emil Ricamona had his hands full against Dobrilović, but he still managed to score 8 points.
Slovenia U21 continues its campaign and will face Hrvatska (Croatia) U21 next week. Philippines U21, on the other hand, will hold scrimmages with other teams, so watch out for that, especially our future U21 stars, the 20-year-olds.
