You could provide 2 examples of skills of the same potential where both players are capped. There is no way to know who the player is so you are not breaching anyone's confidence or trust.

I am sure you would need more than 2 examples (I did). Because, for example, on a guard: you may wonder if 3 levels of rebounding is the difference. Or on a C: you may wonder if 6 levels of handling was the difference. I think, it is only when you start to see all the data that you start to become more convinced.

Would you be able to provide all the data but without age, height or names so that the player cannot be identified?

Anyhow, last time I talk about my research here, it is time to get back on topic. But...

At this time, I will not be sharing the data with anyone. I understand there is a possibility to create a file where no one could figure which player belongs to who (although I would go further than you, taking off players with rare potential/skill mixes and maybe even taking off all the U21/NT players)... But someone still might have the "perceived" notion that I leaked their data. And in the data collection world, perceptions matter as much as facts.

Will unused scouting points transfer over to following seasons?

No, they won't.

That would certainly make for an interesting feature, though.

Certainly. I came here to answer that question specifically and it's a big disapointment they dont.

It kind of makes sense that they don't, at least to me. If they could carry over you could pay the minimum for 4 seasons and then get the same information as if you paid the maximum.

Also, from a realism point of view, there is no way your scouts can be looking 2-3 seasons into the future.

Yeah someone could do that, but it wouldn't really be a good idea in most cases. It means that for 3 seasons you are drafting completely blind. And in the fourth season you are assuming that there is a really good pick worth getting, and you assume that you find that player, and you assume that you will finish with a high pick and get that player. But the only way to gaurantee getting first pick is to come last and relegate (unless you are in the bottom division).

However, I agree it is unrealistic to let people save scouting points over multiple seasons.

very bad idea

lots of people bounce between d2 and d3 etc so they could just save all their points while they are in d3 and will pick last for their next season in d2 when they will pick first

back to the real scouting debate

i have actually increaced my scouting spending but it looks to me like there is no-one in the draft that i feel excited about, maybe i am just in a bad pool

most of the 18 year olds suck, best i have seen is a 4 ball skill but not perfect height

maybe there is a hidden gem hidden behing some "word of the street" 3 ball dude who will turn out to have 5 ball skills and high potential but i am sure i wont be discovering him except by pure luck

Are there any plans to change the "scouting season" now that we have access to the draft list throughout the whole season?

After the current 14 week period is over you could stop all scouting until after the draft, and let managers scout from the start of the season till the end of the playoffs.

what would be the point of that?

real scouts are working all the time

when it is the off season locally that is when they often head over seas to try and find hidden talent

for example these:

Sorry, should have made the post clearer. I meant just for this season they could have no scouting during the playoffs so, next season and all the seasons after, the scouting period could be "realigned" to 14 weeks from the start of the season to the end of the playoffs (instead of the start of the playoffs of one season until the start of the playoffs in the next season).

Because the draft list used to be released at the start of the playoffs, but now it will be available from the start of the season.
