We all know that the structure and rules cannot mimic real life despite the fact we all want to have rule changes that mirror a truer reflection of the real game of Basketball.

NBA players get paid every two weeks during the regular season. Their whole salary is paid during that time. That looks a lot like the new BB. And I mean, a lot.

don't know how it is in the NBA, but in europe player usually get money for reaching targets. So a team, pays more salary(including Bonuses) when they reach the PO.

My favourite german teams, said last season that they loose money in a 3 games series(best of 3), through the bonus payment as the team who get homecourt in the 2 and 4th game.

I like the change, because maybe the 5th placed isn't that crappy then before, but the difference isn't that big through the extra chanches as 3/4 placed teams(who sometimes tanked to get 6 before that change) and the problem with the 6th placed team should be gone.

It's pretty cut and dry based on his message. Teams with no playoff games don't pay salary. Teams with one playoff game won't pay the second week, when they have no games. Unless you know something I don't.

Unless I got the econ updates wrong, in the second week, only 6 teams will be in the competition -- the two finalists and the 4 teams battling for relegation. This means 10 teams will get the reduction benefit in the second week.

But this doesn't change your point much -- it doesn't look like the measure is designed to be equitable. Which may or may not be good, I guess.

You do have them wrong. If the relegation series goes three games (and almost all of them do), the tie breaker is played on the same day as the first day on the finals, i.e. the Tuesday of the second week of the playoffs.

That's correct, but it does affect my count: the teams that are not involved in the second week are the 5th and the 8th spots (4 total), as well as the 6 teams eliminated from the top eight (4 on the previous Tuesday, 2 on the previous Saturday) -- for a total of ten.

Point is, the regular season ends on a Saturday, so the first two rounds of the top 8 take up the first "fiscal" week from the playoffs.

(it still means that as I said to the guy I was posting in reply to that the balance point between the lost tv revenue and the saved salary is not to be calculated on an individual team basis)

This is true. Clearly some teams will be more affected than others.

I don't think there is any doubt that this is a redistribution of wealth to the lesser teams in the division. The only teams that gain nothing from this are the top couple teams that go deep into the playoffs. They pay more than they currently do today.

The perfect solution to the 5th place problem was in the suggestions like 3 seasons ago. The two 5th place teams play..the better record gets home court and 66% of the take. It seems like you guys are rehauling the engine when the car only needs it's oil changed. I hope this thread tells you BB's that this idea is just plain not needed...There are so many more problems and glitches in this game for you guys to fix and this wasn't even in the top 10....
Why not spend this time tuning up the game engine...I still have my players D'ing up my other players, How about this one..I got a rebound with 4 seconds left in the half and was called for a 24 second violation 2 seconds later...
Come on...you guys can do better than this...I hope.
