Friday February 14th... 7:07pm

Gannon and I pull into the South's legendary culinary establishment The Waffle House for a brief respite before continuing our pursuit of one Gertrude Higgenbothen and Ethel Persall the managers of the generals ticket office. Since Pete Tanner's confession the other night both had not been seen. I had a grill cheese with bacon, a order scattered and a coffee, Gannon had a BLT and a Coke. "I can't believe I had to cancel my reservation to that Japanese place so we can go chase a couple of retirees around the various bingo halls around town Joe." Just then the door opens and two older women enter the room both matching the description of our suspects sitting in the booth directly behind Friday.

A few moments later Gannon and Friday make their moves. "Generals have a great season this year aren't they Ms Persall" "Oh sweetie it's been a great season in so many ways" "I just wish Pete could get some playing time" says Gannon. " I don't know Bill, word is he gets better paid when he doesn't play" "So why aren't two handsome young men like yourselves out with your girlfriend's or wives on Valentine's?" " We're still working ma'am" says Gannon as both gentlemen rise from the table with Friday throwing a sawbuck on the table for the tip

Oh what sort of what do you boys do?

We're cops as both flash their badges with the camera panning away as the first few notes of the iconic theme plays!

Announcer: on Friday February 14 trial was held in the Superior Court in and for the community of buzzerbeater....in a moment the results of that trial.

Pete Tanner

In light of his assistance with solving the case no further penalties were issued as playing for the Generals is punishment enough.

Gertrude Higgenbothen and Ethel Persall

Thanks to informatiom from both bringing down the who cabal they were both given a 2 yr sentence of cleaning out Coach Lambini's car....a fate worse than death.

And now we return to our regularly scheduled programming....

Tonight's montage is of teams scrapping and fighting for position. Morphing into resound slams, feathery jumpers etc

Announcer: as the second season continues the brewskies, tornadoes and egg all are in a battle for survival . While bacon, Louisville and srar all look to close out.

But it is a trip to the finals at stake for the four remaining playoff teams

Off in club red

I actually went to Christiansburg just yesterday to take those guys a load of our bed in a box.

I actually had the chance to take tickets tonight for UVA vs UNV. But alas the work scene just makes cutting away impossible. Just as well though, my ass would be staring at a screen on my phone the entire time.

The oddsmakers I would guess have deronimo about a 10 point favorite.

Gonna be a long bus ride back down 220. Petersen again just played terrible, lot of money to pay for not much overal production. But Tapia was the difference, he was en Fuego in the secon half as you had too many weapons, great game! Now can you take out the kitties and finally get out of here?!? I think it is going to be a helluva final.

Brewskies live to fight another day , egg and waffles will face for the other salvation spot in what has been a tight series.

Kitties just crushed it, now the question is if deronimo can stretch it to Sunday .... Brewskies and Waffles out in bitter fashion.

I actually 100% support the decision to go PON in game 1 as the road team there - play for games 2 and 3 when you get an enthusiasm advantage and don't have to worry about minutes management so can just play your top lineup heavy minutes both games. Think Fiercekitties have been the best team in the league so it probably won't be enough, but it's the best shot. I might even go PON in game 2 - if you lose you lose and it's ultimately little different if you lose in 2 games or 3, but if you win then you can potentially enter game 3 with double enthusiasm advantage to offset HCA. We'll see if Deronimo has the same line of thought whenever BB's servers start the games

Sorry I couldn't pump out BB2NIGHT during the finals. But it is our busy time of year at work and after 8 seasons of doing those it's getting harder and harder to come up with tunes and talking points. Ok the dragnet thing was self indulgent but hey a man has to entertain himself!

as we come out of the last commercial break (consisting of Jim Bakker emergency food buckets, flex seal and a my pillow spot, and you thought just the ACC network had problems getting sponsors) you see the cleaning crew collecting the confetti and balloons being cleared away inside a empty arena as the last of the disappointed but not surprised deronomite fans clear into the cold night.

Announcer: and in a season that saw a little bit of everything the kitties clawed their way and shredded the drapes of deronimo's title hopes to claim the top prize. To them best of luck on the next level. To those like the generals old buddies The Brewskies best of luck getting back up soon.

Now as we write the final words for this chapter let's take one last look at the sights of the season past as when '48 is reflected upon it will be remembered as "the year of the cat". For all of us here at BB2NIGHT, Sybil, Al, Lee and the rest of the crew have a great off season and we'll see you soon!
