Congratulations, you've made my point for me! Balanced defenders are rare because nobody trains them. You can obviously adjust the OD/ID levels to your competition - 13/11 SF and 8/15 PF are likely fine at everything but the highest competition - but the prices are high because there's a lack of supply.
There are many avenues to success in this game, but most managers have only explored one. You can't say the road less traveled isn't paved if you've never been down it, now can you?
This isn't the fault of the admins. As they proclaim on the signup page, they let YOU train the players. In this case... BB, YOU have failed. Please don't blame others for your own failures.

I'm training two of them, and it's far from impossible. Cross-training makes it even easier.
