Also, NT regular C Gregor Simpson is listed for 800k for this time Thursday.

I'm not that fussed whether he sells or not, so he won't be getting reduced in price any time soon.

I appreciate the timing. Good for the new owner. Good for the NT. Thanks for that.

I can see why you say what you do about the price tag, but I feel that's slightly misleading. All over 33s are estimated together. Sharpling is 35 and far more likely to drop so as far as I'm concerned as a potential buyer, that's too high.

And as NT manager, I have to say, had I known he was going to be on the transfer list so soon in the season, he wouldn't be in the squad now. I regret that I read your comments at the end of last season and assumed he'd be with you for the whole season.

well I'm not committed to selling him but I think he will go at that price. If he doesn't sell, other things being equal, the comments about trying to make him EBBL MVP this season still stand. He will go at the start of next year unless his salary drops to around 70k.

In all fairness though, previous comments and motivations do not override opportunities to rebuild around my new core of Pierce-Horner-Canning with players closer to their age. I am ruthless.

If I were you, I think 34 is probably the last shout for NT players in consolation tournament years, although it's true that even at 35 and with a rough start to the year skills-retention wise, Sharpling is still more effective than other NT options for a wide range of tactical choices and still deserves his spot on the NT roster on merit.

From this I think you understand what I meant. Just in case anyone else doesn't I'll make clear I understand that circumstances change and I definitely didn't feel misled in any way.

I don't think I'd have included any other 35yo. Sharpling is a special case for me. If this is my last season with the NT I think I can be forgiven for not wanting to pick an England squad without him in it.
It would be nice to think I could blood younger players in consolation years but until we actually get out of the Euro qualifying stages I think we should regard the consolation as our best chance of having a long season.

Just saw that. I've looked at his roster, and most of players are in excellent game shape, so I think I'd be fairly pleased with that aspect of the sale. I'm still tempted myself, as he declines he could play a role for me for quite a few seasons still.

yeah if you're still training good players that offsets the skill drops in terms of wage/performance.
I'm already wondering whether I'm doing the right thing but even if I don't get Osman it makes a lot more sense for me to find a 3rd guard around the 70k salary mark than continuing to pay out close to 500k a week in wages for 3 guards.
