I think ''best position'' is just a help for newbies, until they understand the game and nothing else.

that i wanted to express, but i didn't post it that clear - because i my experience lots of people who ask this like to play them at the suggested position and are afraid that he won't play with "full power" on a wrong position.

I was thinking more of value. When I am ready to sell him, I do not thinkhe will make more money as a small forward than as a SG, so i need him to change to SF.

What should I train to get him to switch?

most SF on the TL are jump Shoters, so training JS and forgeting about OD will do it pretty fast ;)

Also Inside shot make good impact, if it already on a decent level.

Best position is determined by the salary formula - nothing more, nothing less. Joesph Ka did a nice job of trying to nail down an estimate of it:

(46657.74)

Basically, there is a formula for each position. Whatever formula gives the highest value for your player is the one that is used for salary purposes. It also detemines the best position for your player, but has no other impact on the game.

Inside shot cannot make your player into a SF - it has zero impact on the salary of a SF. If your player has high enough inside shot, he will become a PF or C.

It is actually nice for SF trainers... If they get their player to a high enough level of JS, they can train IS and it has absolutely no impact on salary. But IS is quite useful on a SF, unless you are running an outside offense.

No problem, although it is something that I think needs to be fixed (but you already saw that thread ;-) ).

Read again - I also mentioned IS for SFs at the end of my post... But it was more of a side-note.

Anyhow, enough off-topic. ;-)

If best position does make a change for a certain player, when does that occur? at the training update, i assume?
