Next, to answer damian13ster.

I just have one question for both of you, about one of the most signifant positions (in my opinion) in this game.

When in a game against balanced team (lets say all team rating equal), and comparable strength to Canada's NT what kind of offence/defence, and what kind of SF would you run

As a former SF trainer, I love it when anyone asks about SFs. I guess, if I am to keep with my new persona, my answer would be: I am going to call up my 20 year old Stavridis and play him 48 minutes every game.

However, to be more serious, this is not an easy question. The Mogul has really shown with his club team that you can do many different things and have success. This past season he did not have a true SF but mixed up the use of guards and big men very adeptly to overcome that (although his player Schek might be a great SF in the making). So in a pinch, you can even get by without a SF.

Personally, though, I like SFs who can just about do it all, albeit with some kind of focus. For example, I trained Wendon who was balanced but still had somewhat of an inside focus. My latest project, Vacirca, is more outside focused. I have tended to train my SFs and then build my team around them.

The good news is that Canada has both options, thanks to GM-Rip. Abbott is a very solid outside focused SF. I have not seen Abu-Kaleel's skills recently, but my feeling is that he is much more inside focused. I think when it comes to SFs, the team is starting to have some very solid depth...

Does that answer your question?

Thanks for the question damian.

A couple of quick things: In my opinion there is never an equal rating. As a NT manager it is critical to be able to find a weakness or atleast be able to play to our strengths. So if I was selected manager I can assure you that I will play a variety of players and tactics based on our opposition.

With that said I do have some prefered tactics and player builds based on my previous experiences. As for tactics it is crucial that you show no pattern, as it gives your opponent the edge. This season will be especially interesting as the new tactics could potentially be in play, but it does not change the fact that good tactics can outright win or lose games.

The SF is a personall favorite position of mine as well and a position that I have trained in the past. Ideally a team needs a SF that can dominate inside and out, this is pretty tough especially at this level. So the task often falls on two very different players at the SF position OR possibly a SG or outside based PF. It is a very important piece on both ends of the floor so again determining exactly who to use depends on alot of variables.

Hope that helps :)

Cheers

Hey, GM guy... You should know better. You answer questions here, not in the debate thread.

Score:

HPP: 1
GM guy: 0

Man, I am going to have some fun with this.

(PS: In case you are wondering, I would love the manage the NT but just do not have the time that someone like beanerz does to do it properly. So if you vote for me, it will make me happy. But it might not necessarily be the best thing for the NT program... ;-) )

What a politician - deny, deny, deny. I will obviously have to try to be extra crappy to win this one - I may have underestimated you.

In any event, at least I caught your misspell of "quote". You have to be careful around here. I know for sure that there are grammar police. Spelling police? Very likely, too.

I personally detest all the top Canadian managers and I refuse to work with any of them. If you want proof, just look at some of my past disagreements with RIP and other top notch Canadian managers. Ok, I have yet to disagree with The Mogul but I just sense that something is brewing.

Well since I haven't had any debates, I haven't had any disagreements or agreements with any Canadian managers. Cuz I don't speak with any of them. You just have to respect the hell out of that. So does that mean I should be picked before you to be the NT manager? Cuz I think I could fulfill all of your promises. :)

HPP: 1 -1 = 0
GM guy: 0

Though I've been shooting the breeze with Mogul for last couple of months about the U21 so maybe that disqualifies myself :(

Mr. Burns, I hate to bring up the past, but remember the rip-roaring days when I was in your league? Do I really have to dig into the forums to that back... Or should I start some new disagreement???

Sorry, the score is still:

HPP: 1
GM guy: 0

But if you really want, I will add your updated score:
Mr. Burns: -2

(By the way, I am the official scorekeeper, so don't mess with this one again ;-) )

Spelling and punctuation are certainly things I can improve on.

I have to admit, you are pretty good at this.

Anyhow, a question from me. Your player Maja is probably going to be on the team at some point (maybe this season?). How are you going to make unbiased decisions regarding his playing time?

I will answer the question first. Without a doubt, my NT team would revolve around Stavridis. Just going on name value, he is clearly better than any other Canadian player.

With the majority of Canadian NT players builds on the off-site forum it is going to be pretty straight forward who is playing and why. Maja was a late season call up and seemed to hold his own in the couple of games he was part of. I would anticipate that he could very well be part of the team but not without making sure it is warranted. Part of that process would be to have a very open and candid discussion with any and all followers of the NT.

Now it is my turn to ask you a question...

What motivates you? And what is your beverage of choice?
