yep, me too, but you can´t argue that both players has extremelly value. Durant was always thought as the next superstar, while Westbrook had some doubts if he could play at a high level in the NBA, if he had the skills to play as a PG

I'd rather say those late bloomers are players with 3 ball scouting value and 4 or 5 ball potential ;)

the prescouting numbers are basically word on the street - which might no mean much, if a good player plays backup for a better one in college, he might be totally off the radar (think Eric Bledsoe or Landry Fields this season... those would be 1-2 prescouting ball players with some nice skillset after scouting)

You're kidding, right?
He was the 3rd overall pick in 2006 and doesn't have a job now
Rajon Rondo,Rudy Gay,Brandon Roy, Paul Milsap amongst those chosen behind him
although most of the others were better too

When you say the 5-balls you have interviewed this season are better, you mean they have a better potential ?

My understanding is that the grey balls take the potential into account. They roughly represent the star level and the potential. So a 1 or 2 grey-balls may turn up to be a 5-ball star level with 2 or 3-balls potential. It's still very cost effective but you'll have it hard finding the greatest trainee using this method.
In a sense, 5-balls or better higher up the list if they have potential.

The list is loosely based on real levels though.

Can we get a consensus on this:

Is there or is there not importance to the original 5 GREY balls
or are they random

I did the combine
I've been scouting my 18 year olds and there are plenty...7 done,20 still to go
3 have 5 grey balls...1 has 4...7 have 3...
That leaves 9 with 1 or 2 and another 9 that are 19

Not to mention the 11 that are 19 with 4 or 5 GREY balls.

I figure I'll have another 20 points to use

Don't want to waste them on the Demo if it is indeed a waste

I don't know if you'll be able to get a consensus on this, or even if such a consensus would have any value. Some believe the grey ball have some meaning, others believe that the initial list is completely random and the grey balls simply are set-up so the first nine in the list get 5 grey balls, the last nine get 1 grey ball and there are always ten of each of the others. The BB's aren't likely to give out the actually information on this. At least they weren't willing to do so when the new system was introduced. And personally, I think it's probably best that way.

I generally do the group demonstration if there are enough 18 year olds in it to make it cost effective. This year I have 16 of the 19 players in the group demonstration who are 18 years old, so it is definitely worth the money. Last year I only had 7 and only two of those were of proper height for me to train, so I didn't bother.

Sadly, I didn't keep exact track of the 1st 7 I scouted
I can tell you that the best the 5 grey balls turned out was 3 ballers
while two greys under 4 balls turned the two 5 ballers I found out of 7
will keep up to date
will take 3 weeks to get to 10 points at 3 a week and the one that I saved.
