i think the doctor in BB is overrated. As long as your players are at a high game shape(so they don't play too many minutes), you should fine. I've had about 4 injuries, in my 4 seasons in BB, and one lasted for as long as 2 weeks. that was about it

game shape don't affect the chanche of injurys, even when the chanche is lower when he play less minutes but in the end you lineup players for 240minutes anyway.

And yes injuries ain't that often, but sometimes they hurt last season i lost my C, and my good shots at the cup win and during those 3 weeks + one week to getting the gameshape back i dropped from place 1 to 4 in my division.

Since I'm a cheapo, is a basic doctor good enough? Any experience with a basic doctor?

Ya, I carry a basic doctor. I've had 5 guys injured this season. (I think) three were in game injuries only, one was 1 week, and one was three weeks. Willing to deal with that to not pay an extra 8K a week.

During cup runs I keep a level 5 doctor because I have high salaries and surly don't want a 4 week injury to a 200K a week player. When the cup is over I go back down to a level 4. That is just me...

i thought injury risk increases when you overplay a player?

or maybe those that overplay their players also have useless doctors (or are unlucky) - because one way or another they always have more injuries on their roster than i do!

or if they have smaller rotations, a injured player will hurt them more and maybe you didn't notice some injurys of teams who switch their lineup regulary for the gs because it isn't eyecatching when they change it through injury. but till now i didn't heard a statement or saw numbers who indicate higher risk of injury through bad gameshape or overplaying.

Edit: i am also ahave no disprove of your theory, so maybe you are right.

But i add one answer from Charles in one of the forum days, which at least didn't mentioned it(don't have to mean much):

But I was just wondering, does the calculations affect doctors with taping abilities? Or is the taping thingy done before the injury calculation?

it is done after, if it is a game long injury the player might get back into the game when the doctor have the taping speciality.

Maybe it's not overplaying that's the real reason, because logically, the more minutes your player is on court, the more chances of him getting injured. And since overplaying requires him to be on court for a very long time, he has a lot of chances of getting injured.

that would only expalin more injurys for starters(and less for the few backups), but i believe he meant an over proportional raise of the risk.
