thanks to all whom had answered.

I have kind of a follow up question: a player, a guard or a SF that is really good in one kind of offense (a pure shooter, good driving...) will he tend to make the attacks he is better at? to rule out tactics affect let say in base offense.

Or even more - does the opponent's defense affect the player's decision to throw from distance or try get to the paint more?

yes that will happen, the "player" calculate to make the best possible decision during an attack and looking for a good shot depending on time left and the average quality of shot you could get. The higher the experience the better this decision process works for the player.
I don't know if a good inside shooter and bad shooter, will get more looks inside and less outside but at least he would take less of the chanches outside and more of them inside.
