For example, last season I was pretty well locked into 3rd place after 15 league games, would've taken an incredible performance one way or another to move out of it. I concentrated the last 7 games on managing my enthusiasm, though it still didn't help come playoff time. Once you've figured out where you're likely to be in a playoff position, you ought to begin managing enthusiasm, though as strlife said, it shouldn't come at the expense of costing your team home court advantage.
