TL doesn't have to be shut down completely. Just dont allow players that are bought after the allstar break to play in playoffs. Simple as that. Or maybe extend that period till games against other conference are over.

1. yes, you could buy a replacement but he wont be able to play in playoffs.

2. new teams can be exception to this rule for one season. There are several exceptions for new team in other rules too, so that shouldn't be much of a problem

3. dont know what you mean. think ahead, plan ahead. create your roster not for one or two months, or just playoffs. create it for 2 seasons for example. plan big, plan long


I know the ideas are not perfect but if you all could brainstorm on them they could get great.

I have to disagree.

Speaking from my own experience, I got my team right around the All Star Break. If players off the TL weren't allowed in the playoffs, then there would be little incentive to even try to improve the team for half a season. By that time, you've lost the new player--he's decided it's not worth the effort, gone on to other things, and who knows when he'll come back to the game?

I understand the frustration of those who have tried to manage a team well all season and suddenly have to face a team that is now not a #4 seed but a monster due to late additions, but some of these responses go too far imho.

I do agree with the idea of moving the deadline for playoff eligibility to 2-3 weeks prior to the end of the regular season. By that time, a brand new owner won't have to wait as long to reset their team (their team's playoff fate is probably already an inherited situation), but it forces the tankers to have to pay the exorbitant mutant salary for a few extra weeks. I also agree with some kind of GS adjustment, either for the new transfer, the team as a whole, or both.

I'd also suggest new transfers come in with "Mediocre" GS and the team takes a 2-3 point hit to their Enthusiasm to simulate the adjustment period of getting used to a new teammate. I think these three measures would provide enough of a disincentive to provide some sort of balance to the other playoff qualifiers.

Changing the date or the prices doesn't stop it from happening. IF you move date, it will still happen at the new date. If you change the prices, it will still happen. I'm not for or against it, I just think the BBs need to focus on other things.

new teams could be an exception to the rule as i said above. If you're a new team you wont be affected by this rule. You could buy anyone and be able to play that player in playoffs in your first season as a team.

no, if you close TL at least a month before playoffs you wont be able to buy monsters just for playoffs, or at least not as many. you could buy them, sure, but the cost of paying them that month or more before playoffs and during playoffs would be too high for 95% percent of top division teams.

You must be new to MMO gaming? People have found out how to min/max for decades. They will evolve to whatever you change it to.

practice makes perfect. People always find a way to break or stretch the rules, yes. I agree with that.

But new things, rules like this will make the rubber harder to stretch

there's some good stuff in what you're saying but i still dont like those playoff trades and i think they should be somehow at least limited if not canceled. i dont have the solution on how to limit it but i hope someone finds it...
