To answer your basic question...

Based on the data from the BB Training Project, a Superior trainer would give you 6% more training and an Exceptional trainer would give you about 10% more training. If you want to talk "pops," a decent estimate would be almost 1 more pop per player per season per level of trainer (assuming you're doing single-position training). But the data that has been collected thus far on this subject is quite noisy, so take that with a grain of salt. So, it's a big investment for a small advantage. But it you use it well, it can be worth it.

I say if you think that sounds like it's worth it to you, go for it. If not, stick with what you got. It'll be sufficient for a long time.

And when you buy staff, my advice is to buy higher salary guys that you can pick up for less than $10k in signing bonus. And then turn them over pretty frequently. Usually you end up with lower over-all costs that way, no matter what level trainer you go with.

Cool info from the training project, I didn't realize that data was available. Can you post relative speeds for the lower level trainers or point me to where I can view it myself?

The data was posted earlier, but isn't posted on the site anymore because the calculations it took were too extensive for the free server. And the data were too noisy for all the levels besides 4, 5 & 6 to get useful/reliable data out of it anyway. So unfortunately I can't provide any of what you're asking for. However, if you project those differences out (that's my guess for how it works) you get something like 14 pops for a lvl7, 13 for a lvl 6 and so on until 8 for a minimal trainer. So the effectiveness grows linearly while the cost grows exponentially.

I've always had one question about training... looks like a good thread to ask.

Does the level of an individual skill have anything to do with the training time necessary to gain an increase? For example, if I'm single position training an 18 year old 6'2" player in OD, will "inept to mediocre" take less training time than "wondrous to marvelous"? Or, do they take the same?

I also understand that the relative skills around the main stat also play a part in how quickly you can get pops. I'm just wondering if all other variables are stripped down, is the time between stats the same?

There is no direct relationship between how long a skill takes to train and the current level of the skill.

There are a 2 things that usually make higher level pops indirectly take longer: 1) players that get those pops are likely older and so training is slower, 2) the elastically related skill(s) is more likely to be lower than the skill you're training, making training slower.

But, yes, with everything else stripped out a 20yo 6'4" player will take the same time to pop from 4 to 5 as from 14-15.

Does level of trainer affect team training? (stamina, game shape, FT)??

Nope, the level of the trainer doesn't affect stamina, game shape, or FT training.

It does affect other team training like passing for the whole team, not that you would want to do that.
