BUT does ID on a guard have any value and/or help a guard limit the effectivness of another guard/player driving?

Of course. This has value in terms of production in the game, but another good thing is that it doesn't cost too much on the salary. It can limit the effectiveness of DR of opposing guards, and can also help defend better against inside shots.

OD is very important no doubt about that,I think this skill should be the highest for Guards, but if you play LI then 7 or 8 IS
is a big +

I think some people take the Primaries/Secondaries a bit too seriously.

I think to be better with your young talent down the road, you must focus on pumping up some of their secondaries too based on the type of system you run. For example, Look Inside requires a lot of shots from guards that will be inside in comparison to other offenses (keep in mind, DR still has slightly more shots, and JS has considerably more, but IS is still more prevalent in this offense than others). I myself would find it hard to buy a 26+ year old with 1's and 2's at his secondaries. Theres just too mcuh evidence there to suggest that i'm missing a significant enough percentage of my shots if i dont at least put a little into the player at his secondaries.

The safe thing to do: don't buy players with ANY skill lower than 4.
Or before a trainee approaches the cap, have every stat 4 or higher.

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

I actually think a team could suffice with less OD then normal teams tend to have if you filled up the "lack" of it by adding PA instead on all positions. You can get a lot of PA for the same cost as a OD pop cost salary and potential wise on all positions expect PG.
This is pretty much just a theory though and i know a lot would say it wont help. But i strongly believe so and havent seen a team try it yet so.
It may be hard at the top level of competition like B3 but against lower competition i think it just may work. You'll get a team with less salary that gets a lot more efficient with its scoring.

I think more than that is that the concept of piling on a ton of OD at the PG and SG, and some OD at SF, and ignoring it entirely at PF and C is probably detrimental. I definitely think that having good PA at all five positions on the court is more effective than having two guards with super high passing as well.

i think that the impact of driving skill is higher/lower on your result depending on your offence scheme :

1- you go on low pace offence (for exemple low post or princeton) --> passing skill will prevale over driving concerning creating good shots (on inside positions for LP, outside for Prctn)
driving skills will only get into account if the shot clock is close running out.
2 - you go on high pace offence (f.e : look inside or run&gun) --> driving skill will prevale over passing for creating good shots.

as it was said above, driving skill should go along with handling.

is it primary for a player's success ?
i would say YES in the case of a key player in a roster without high passing skills.
if your other players can pass the ball correctly, driving becomes secondary.

so i believe it depends on your offence scheme (inside/outside + low/high pace) ...
in my case, all my players have good passing & handling skills. driving is secondary since i often use low pace scheme, and it does work properly (as far as recently).
cheers !

From my experience, yes. I had a German NT guard with low ID a few years ago that would routinely get burned by $5k players in the paint and on layups because he had 2 on ID. My two guards now have good ID ratings, and it's really evident with the difference in FG% on layups and inside shots.
