I think that people forget how patient is supposed to work. Patient is supposed to be a balanced offense. Its merely a more selective version of base offense. If base offense looks for a shot with, say, a 40% chance of success, then patient looks for one with a 60% chance. The reason one player ends up taking all the shots is that its very hard to get that good of a shot on a regular basis, so when it doesnt find one it defers to the best shooter.

So to use patient in its most effective form, and the one it was designed for, I think you need no holes in your lineup. If all five players have the ability to shoot, it multiplies your chances of finding a 60% shot by 5. You also need passing across the board so that when these shots do become available, the ball can get there from any position. This is why high OD kills it because if you cant move the ball, you aren't going to find open shots.

IMO, if one player is taking all the shots in your patient offense, or you are using it merely to create a mismatch at one position, you aren't using it right.

Maybe I should rephrase that you "You aren't using it the way it was designed to be used"

It may be effective in that form, but I dont think thats as effective as if the offense were actually balanced, the way its intended to be.

i think it find the best for situations not just 1 scorer overall in the game but indeed you will be using your best shooters making taking shots. I cant say for certain. i have played better team with good od, ill say paitince is very smart skill kept tactic.. It not all about 3pts. its mid range shots too not alot guards have inside defense :). Like siad having good passing team is the key.

Ahh I see the issue. Let me correct it.

One thing to consider before going patient is if ypur opponent has better then average OD ratings. If he has I would never run patient as high OD is a killer for patient.

Unless the opponent always plays M2M and you can confirm that he's got bad OD at at least one position (usually C) and play your shooter there. But I'm pointing that out more for general consumption as I know you know this.
