You put 11 players in your roster for that match, and it was a blowout game. If you want him to get 48 min, then do what you did this match expect puting 11 players in to your roster. Make it 9. Then you won't see that again(hopefully).

Dressing 9 players is a fairly good number, but in my experience (and the experiences of others), druing blowouts, the trainee is usually subbed out at some point. Dressing 8 is the only way to make sure that they don't get subbed out. Unless they foul out, get ejected or injured, of course.

Use a 5 man team and put them as back up as well

9 players is the highest it should go. To give your self a *higher* chance of having the player in for 48 minutes (as long as they don't foul out, get injured, or get ejected.
