Still, the key is to get visibility any way you can. Maybe it isn't a true "basketball game" but that doesn't mean that if someone sees it on the front page of a search they won't check it out and maybe give it a try. Lots of other inferior games come out ahead of BB on the simulation search. I'd guess that half of all potential players search "simulation" instead of "manager". That a lot of people to give up to competing sites.

Actually my message was directed to the originator of the thread, not to you. I´m not surprised that his search only listed Buzzerbeater on the 4th page.

Whatever. Well, BuzzerBeater is a basketball manager game, so it could be counted as a game.

talking about reading now: i did not question the *game* part, but the *Basketball* part. plenty people signing up leave within days because buzzerbeater is as much a Basketball game as a Text adventure can be considered a jump and run game. i doubt that a higher listing for the search the original poster did would help alot as it would lead to wrong expectations about what buzzerbeater is and what it isn't.

buzzerbeater is a managing game with no real sports action gameplay. so looking for Basketball manager - like you did - should provide results, as it did. searching for Basketball online and getting here might not help alot.

i don't really see your anger, i'm basically supporting your point.

Everyone stop your arguing. I think we can all agree that Buzzerbeater is not a game nor a manager, but it is in fact a lifestyle. It does not matter what people search, because you can't simply choose the Buzzerbeater life. The Buzzerbeater life must choose you :)

Are you saying that you have never bought anything at a grocery store that wasn't on your list?

Also, it may be a "text adventure" but theme is always important to every player in every text adventure.

There are other manager games like BB that pop up well before them with the "simulation" search. I'd bet their entire client list is made up of people that searched "simulation" instead of "manager". Even if you disagree that this is a simulation game, it boils down to simple product marketing. Take a look at the ads here on BB. I'm looking at one for a fantasy based MMORG called Tynon right now as I type this. Does that have anything to do with basketball, management, or simulation at all? Nope. But the people paying for the ad know darn well that BB players are more likely to check it out even though they didn't search for it.

In this case, I'm talking about people that are actively searching for a game which has an even better success ratio of sign ups than an ad does. And since the searcher is actively trying to find a desired theme (in this case basketball) you want to make sure you get as many looks as possible. So what if only 2% decide to sign up on the "simulation" search. That's more than what you would have otherwise.

And really, it doesn't take that much work.

The sign up ratio isn´t what I´m talking about - the "stick with it" ratio is my concern. Nevertheless - whether it takes "not so much" work or "alot of work", it still requires work, and it´s up to the BBs to decide about it. Your suggestion is out, and heard. Nuff said.
