He didn't get to start just to get injured. He was selected by the coach as the best option. That's what happens when you use "Let Coach Decide".

If the coach had selected the best option all the other backups would have started as well because they are twice as good as the starters.

It was the best option for *him*. You will surely be better in picking the best lineup than our "coach". That's why we encourage using other substitution strategies.

Well, you have to admit that this is dodgy and if it's not a bug it's a serious dysfunction. For the first time ever my coach overrules my starter selection and a couple of seconds later this starter gets injured. There surely is something rotten in the state of Denmark (Shakespeare).

I was under the impression that the starters you select for a game are always the starters for the game as long as you set your line-up correctly and in-time, regardless of substitution pattern.

Why then would the in-game coach not start someone who's been listed to start the game? "Let Coach Decide" only applies to substitutions AFTER the initial jump-ball, right?

@grullo: If it indeed works like that, I should rethink this. It wouldn't surprise me that I don't really know this since I myself never use "LCD". There should be some examples of your claim though, do you have any games which confirm it?

@chuck_daly: The injury is certainly not related to the substitution strategy, I can confirm that for sure. What happened here was a coincidence. Nothing rotten here

@OTT9: please read why I said to grullo. I'm not certain that it is indeed so, but "LCD" *might* be responsible for starting lineup replacement. Then again, it might not.
