I don't understand it neither. I once read they were chosen according to the grades they got during the games in their season...

That's what I read too - essentially each stadium has a press reporter who has a vote for the allstar game and MVP and then the results are calculated based on that. I don't know how someone with only one game would make the ASG unless he was bought from another team in the same league, but I generally don't put enough value in the All Star Game to begin with so it's never really bothered me.
