Training slows down gradually, at age 27 it's pretty low and will take a while to get pops. While you can still do it, it's not very financially efficient.

After age 26 the cost/benefit of training becomes very, very low. Plus even if you’re getting pops at age 27-29 that doesn’t increase the transfer value of the player, they’re still going to diminish in value. At that point you’re far better off finding a new player to train imo.
