I think the B3 should be run like the UEFA Champions League, where some of the top leagues get more entries. Not sure how difficult this would be to implement, but it would be pretty cool.

It could also introduce a "play-in game" between the losing semi-finalists to grab the 4th B3 spot in these leagues.

Amen. I think you've been reading my mind in a few posts in here the last few days.

I'm sure the reason I think this is a good idea has nothing to do with the fact that I'm never ever going to beat BC Törööö in the league or tournament.

It also has nothing to do with the idea that I'm always going to have a hard time getting past King Drive Ballers.

Actually same over here where Got Rice? is a league on its own...;p

yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the "present."

The Champions League, at least, is doing this for the extra TV revenues. Why should be doing this in BB? Who will decide which country is 'big' or 'strong' enough for extra members?

I say, keep it simple and give equal representation for all countries. If nothing else, it is an extra jolt of energy to the leagues that need to catch up with the BB bigs.

It also has nothing to do with the idea that I'm always going to have a hard time getting past Salisbury Auerbachs, especially since there's no more regular TIE/Normal/CT in the conference playoffs.

A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score

i think countries where top divisions have formed TIE alliances should gain at least an additional 2 spots....otherwise I agree

They should make the field 256 teams so every team has a 1st round game. Priority for berths:

0. BBB Sweet 16
1. League Champion
2. Cup Champion
3. League Regular Season Champion
4. Cup Finalist.
5. League Playoff Finalist
6. Cup Semifinalist who lost to cup finalist.
7. League Conference Champion
8. Cup Semifinalist (other than 6).
9+. League regular season record, excluding relegating teams.

A team that qualifies for multiple reasons would use its highest priority qualification, and other teams would move up. A Sweet 16 team would not count against its country's entries.

Countries would be ranked based on the number of wins in the 5 previous BBB's. 63 countries would get 2+ berths. The top 9 would get 4+, and the next 12 would get 3+. The 84 + teams (one per country) would participate in the play-in.

Based on games in this seasons BBB (subject to recount), the countries with 4+ berths are:

Italy, USA, Canada, Argentina, Georgia, France, Serbia, Switzerland, and Portugal.

Those with 3+ would be:

Brazil, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Scotland, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Uruguay, Netherlands, Norway, and Philippines.

The other 63 countries would have 2+ entries.

This would result in 212 direct qualifiers, and 84 teams contesting for the final 42 berths via the play-in.

Fixed these statements for the remaining members of your division

I would like to vote the 3 of you into the BB3 every year just to give the rest of us in the Big 8 a chance
