Does anyone have an idea or experience about soft caps on different potentials? for example star or below potential?

Are you sure? Then maybe I sold one prematurely as soon as his peers started to leave him behind:)

Most of the really good teams don't buy anything lower than a All-star... I find myself doing the same thing.. Peace

is there a way to help prevent them from hitting their potential too fast? I heard someone talking on the forums about how if a player hits their potential in one skill, it slows down all other skill training too...

would rotating training make it easier to keep them training at optimal speeds?

BTW maybe it's a dumb question, but can anyone tell me if the potential cap is affected by Free Throw or Experience?

that's a good question.

IMHO, I don't think it could be, but I could be wrong.

i think it depend on how you train the player... if you train him just at 1 skill he will lose very soon his limit potential
i read somewhere, that depending on potential, you can train a player till a diferent level of skill...for exemple,if the maximum skill lvl is 20 ,then a player with potential alltime great(10+) will grow till this lvl ...
20=10+
19=10(hall of famer)
18=9(mvp)
.
