No, I dunno where u got that idea, I said he MAY not be top 15, its questionable... i love Ibaka, he had a great regular season, later in the POs he wasnt as good, but as u said, he is young, coming into the league, still gonna improve quite a bit...

He should have been defensive player of the year, Chandler got it instead, but in a funny way, I laughed because Ibaka was 1st team All-Defense, Chandler was 2nd team. Hah

Hehehe prolly cuz Chandler is older in the league and Ibaka just came in, but ur right Ibaka was awesome on def last season... He wasnt nearly as good on the POs, especially later in the POs, but he is still a great player nonetheless and he will improve even more, hope he stays in OKC

The fact that we even look at Chandler and Ibaka as being "all-defensive" is a joke in itself...
We've definitely seen a decline in Centers over the years.

True, we've seen beter times but that doesnt affect the list...

Chandler is pretty good and Ibaka is a great defender and not bad offensivelly, but still has time to improve...

Oh I think it very much effects the list.
I'm not going to put Centers up there, just because centers are under-reported, or over-value them. Just because their position is weaker than it has been historically.

Would you have put... an 07-08 Ben Wallace on that list in 07-08? Me neither.

Its a list based on current skills, so the fact that we had great players and dont anyome should have nothing to do with the list...

D12 is a great player...

What r u gonna do, leave a team with no C just because the ones form other times were better?

Dwight howard would be on mine... but as to the other Centers....

I'm not going to put a Center in my top 50, just because he's the 2nd best or 3rd best center, if there are 50 players that are better players than him, with better cases to be in it.

Oh ya, agree with u on that, we r talking best players overall... No matter what though, D12 should be top 10 and Bynum, Gasol (both), Jefferson, Hibbert, Chandler and Horford are worth mentioning... They may not be as good as the bigs were other times, but they r still pretty good... Noah, Cousins and Nene arent bad either...

I don't know if its that the Centers are decreasing in skill as much as its, the guards are getting better and taking over the game. Back in the days when the NBA was run by the bigs, all the guards would do is pass to them and play defense. However, now that guards decided that they want to score and get the attention, the roll of Centers is changing. So yes, all Centers stats are decreasing, but i don't think they are less in skill than before.

How is it then, that shooting %s on guards then vs now... the "elite" guards then were better than now?

Edit: Adchester in a different convo on diff thread, helped me completely remember the likes of Stephon Marbury.
I wouldn't even say the guards necessarily are getting better... well... rephrase the average guards may be getting better, but the elite guards are not.
