More great write ups!

It is shaping up to be a fairly interesting tournament in Asia, thanks for reporting on it.

Africa Pool A
Team W L PF PA %
1 Al Maghrib 4 0 462 298 1.000
2 Misr 4 0 449 287 1.000
3 Nigeria 4 0 413 291 1.000

7 Senegal 0 4 272 409 0.000
8 Ghana 0 4 297 478 0.000

South Africa(3-1) 104- Tounes(0-4) 83: Tounes greater effort nearly payed off and they jumped ahead early and were down only 1 going into the 4th before South Africa took the game over. A Sensational inside scoring rating got it done for South Africa, along with assisting on 29 shots compared to only 10 for Tounes. POTG: South African C Landuleni Mufamabi had a stron 23 pt 18 reb game.

Al Maghrib(4-0) 128- Ghana(0-4) 77: A CT vs TIE wasn't nearly enough for Ghana as Al Maghrib dominated in every portion of the game. POTG: Al Maghrib PF Hafiz Mahmoud continues to carry his team with 27 pts and 16 reb.

Misr(4-0) 99- Senegal(0-4) 48: An excellent defensive game for Misr they went with a MtM and shut down Senegal inside and out. A +41 rebounding margin was a huge factor for Misr and Senegal never really had a shot. POTG: Misr PF Sulayman Yousef continues a strong tournament with 19 pts 14 rebs and a 17.0 rating.

Nigeria(4-0) 114- Al Jazair(1-3) 93: Nigeria jumped up by 22 pts in the first half and held on for the win. Nigeria shot excellently for the game, going 51-86 from the field. POTG: Nigeria C Richmond Sadiq had a very solid 18 pt 20 reb game to control the post for his team.

Sorry I missed Asia last week, mostly just forgot.
Africa Pool A
Team W L PF PA %
1 Nigeria 5 0 518 384 1.000
2 Al Maghrib 4 1 565 407 0.800
3 Misr 4 1 542 392 0.800
4 South Africa 4 1 553 475 0.800
5 Al Jazair 2 3 477 550 0.400
6 Ghana 1 4 385 559 0.200
7 Tounes 0 5 398 527 0.000
8 Senegal 0 5 353 497 0.000

South Africa(4-1) 109- Al Maghrib(4-1) 103: This one came as a real surprise to me, with Al Maghrib having home court and putting in more effort. South Africa had a huge first quarter, jumping out to a 31-16 lead after one. The ratings were fairly even, with both teams winning some matchups. South Africa had a small +7 advantage in rebounding and had an excellent inside game to win it. POTG: Al Maghrib SG Abdulah Yousif had an excellent game with 22 pts and 6 asts to go with a 17.5 rating.

Nigeria(5-0) 105- Misr(4-1) 93: Nigeria with some help from South Africa finds itself as the last undefeated team in Africa with this big win. Another deciding first quarter with Nigeria leading 33-22 going into the 2nd quarter. The teams had equal effort with the ratings looking fairly balanced and Nigeria having an advantage in the PP100 ratings. POTG: Nigerian PG Koko Babangidda had a surprise monster game with 30 pts and 5 asts to lead his team to victory.

Al Jazair(2-3) 100- Tounes(0-5) 96: Al Jazair pretty much sewed up a spot for itself in the next round with this nice win. They pounded Tounes by outrebounding them +12 and attempting 18 more free throws. Even effort and ratings across the board. POTG: Al Jazair PF Youssef Staiti had a monster 27 pts and 18 rebs along with his 16.0 rating.

Senegal(0-5) 81- Ghana(1-4) 88: Ghana led by 16 going into the 4th before Senegal came back to make a game out of it. Ghana's much needed first win this round moves them into the last advancing spot for now. Senegal showed strength on the outside, while Ghana was more balanced. The FT disparity was huge with Ghana attempting 30 compared to Senegals measly 4 attempts. POTG: Ghana PF Momar Diawara had a strange game finishing with 17 pts and 19 rebs but a -2 +/- rating, he still gets the award though for cleaning up 7 ORs.

Sorry, but I don't think I'll have time to report on Asia for at least the rest of this round, maybe starting next round but for now it is just to many games for me.:(

Africa Pool A
Team W L PF PA %
1 Nigeria 6 0 610 464 1.000
2 Misr 5 1 655 488 0.833
3 Al Maghrib 4 2 645 499 0.667
4 South Africa 4 2 649 588 0.667
5 Al Jazair 3 3 573 634 0.500
6 Tounes 1 5 519 637 0.167
7 Ghana 1 5 469 655 0.167
8 Senegal 0 6 463 618 0.000

Al Maghrib(4-2) 80- Nigeria(6-0) 92: Another nice win from Nigeria with less effort, they look to be the favorites to take home the African Cup this season. Saw a not very often used Princeton offense from Nigeria and they looked good using it getting anywhere from 99-133 in PP100. POTG: Nigerian SG Ben Usman led a balanced attack from Nigeria with 21 pts and 4 asts shooting 8-11 and 4-5 from beyond the arc.

Misr(5-1) 113- South Africa(4-2) 96: South Africa put more effort in and had a good game down low, but it didn't pay off. The pace picked up in the 2nd half with the teams combining for 128 pts as compared to 81 in the first half. South Africa was much more efficient shooting, but Misr managed to get off 24 more shots. POTG: Going to give it to the losing team, South African C Glody Mncebisi with an excellent 19 pts and 15 rebs.

Tounes(1-5) 121- Senegal(0-6) 110: A battle for each teams first win it was a tight one going into the 4th, but Tounes pulled away 41-28. Further proof of Senegals futility they put more into this game and still couldn't manage to pull it out. The only thing that kept Senegal in it was bombing away from 3pt land going 15-39 from deep. POTG: Tounes C Sahbi El Fahli strongarmed his way to 26 pts and 13 rebs before fouling out.

Ghana(1-5) 84- Al Jazair(3-3) 96: An equal effort game Al Jazair went down low to win this one. They shot an excellent 50% from the field while only attempting 2 3pt shots. Al Jazair locks themselves into the next round where they'll give it their best but may not have quite enough. POTG: Al Jazair's PF Youssef Staiti was huge with 23 pts and 19 rebs.
