Frosty - awesome prognostications and team writeups! Very entertaining. Thanks.
I know you are not enamored with my squad: " as it stands, the playoff race is EXTREMELY crowded on this side. however, just judging by the smell test, looking at their team composition, i kinda doubt it. at least not this season." You are right - this team is closer to being blown up than it is to winning it. I am in a situation where I am still evaluating. I don't get on these forums often, but I check my progress often (or lack thereof) and I truly appreciate that you and some other guys in BB take the time to entertain the rest of us. It's what keeps me coming back for the abuse and frustrations of BB! Good luck to all this season. Remember Frosty's predictions - Scrap Heap doesn't have the squad to compete. So basically use your games against us to train your rookies. We'll even feed them after the game.

I feel like scoring is up across the league early with 6 teams avg near 100 PPG.

It's a little early to draw conclusions (though that's never stopped me from trying), but I noticed 3 pointers were way up the first game, even with my 0.00% thrown into the accounts. Can we trust the GMs will warn us when they make changes to the Match Engine? I've played a lot of games like this one, and many times my team has gotten drastically better or worse in an offseason without me doing anything, other than hazarding the occasional stroll to the refrigerator for an adult beverage.

If this season's going to be determined by long-range shooting, I'm in deep trouble. Stephan Curry's a fine basketball player, but I wanna see how many 3 pointers he can hit without spilling a margarita.

LMAO thats a good one. Yeah I don't know if its the effect the 3 point line or what. I personally dont feel like my team is making more 3s than they were before, maybe shooting them at a very very minimally better % but its extremely early. I was just saying in general. Now given its the first week so matchups are shakey and we are all kind of figuring each other out etc. But usually you have 1 or 2 guys go off for like 50-60 points or something. this start to the season has quite a handful of balanced 20-30 pt guys in 2 games of course... and overall teams seem to be pushing the envelopes on offense. Could easily just be teams adjusting to each other and new players and tactics etc.

lol, I never said you couldn't compete, I slotted you for the 5 seed. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if any of the top 10-11 teams promoted. I think there's lots of talent here, and all the sudden the favorite is struggling. That makes this league pretty wide open IMO. I was just saying I don't think you have a dominant team. I don't think anyone has a dominant team.

Speaking of dominant teams, in BB I think there's less luck than in real basketball. Even in the NBA, if the worst team played the best team 100 times, the underdog's going to win at least 3. One season in division 4, when I thought I had a chance at finally winning, a team called HeadCrushingPigs came down and without any effort had something like a 1400 point differential. If I'd played him 1000 times, I'm not sure I would have won once. If I did, you can be sure something really weird happened, like the bus drove off a cliff on the way to the arena, or the ref woke up with a horse head in his bed.
So, I'm not makin' threats or nothin', just sayin' maybe youze better not let things go down to the wire, capeche? 'Cause maybe I know some guys who know some guys, or sumpin' like that, know what I mean?

That's brutal. Last season one of the weaker teams in the red division got bounced in round one, a couple more were out by round 3, and I managed to make it to round 5 TIEing all the way. That's probably the biggest reason (other than brilliant managing, it should go without saying) I was able to take 6th.
Since you know about the EPL, you know when I team qualifies for the Champions League, they have sp;end a ton of money, and have at least 22 guys that can keep their heads above water in a competitive match. If they get knocked out of Europes, not only do the salaries become economically unviable, you've got a bunch of Alpha males sitting on the bench, then killing each other in practice (or beating up immigrants outside night clubs -- are you old enough to remember when Leeds United was in the Champions League? If you blinked, you missed it. Now they're two divisions away from the Premier League). You've dug yourself quite a hole.

EDIT: Now I see three teams face divIII competition next round -- all on the blue side. Somehow the blue division outperformed the red in the cup last time. What was the final inter-division win-loss last season? That's going to look like a Mission of Mercy in comparison.
