i'm never sure anymore of whether to take notice of the strategic decisions facing teams at this level -- at lower levels, for example, i remember posting each week's Cup opponents, in part to make any individual's team's tactical decisions for the week more explicit.

but you're aware of our mutual situations quite clearly -- and i, too, am looking forward to seeing the decision you have made and then spending weeks second-guessing mine.

and your fun fact astonished me -- i remember our history as very competitive and now i think of you as now having one of the top two teams in the league (lucky for me, both of these teams are in the same conference).

good luck tonight.

I'm just trying to fight my way back to .500, having suffered an early season injury to a key starter we have managed to salvage our season.

It took me 9 tries to get my first win against you. You're a tough nut to crack. (:|

much better to be lucky than good:

if Weigang does not get hurt early, and my team goes with my original lineup, then Zianevich does not get as many minutes and does not have the game of his life --

and to show how far my luck runs, Weigang was not hurt for more than the match.

(come to think of it, maybe i should look at the tapes and review Weigang's "injury". Perhaps he was told by the AI to take a dive so that Z. could get into the game and thus overcome the moronic lineup handed down by the owner who made his fortune in oil and is thinking of selling the name of the stadium to AT&T.)

I was also lucky in a sense to injure a player and foul out two others. If there had been another five minutes of game, things could have gotten interesting. I was surprised how much I was losing by given that we had similar game ratings. Maybe one of these days we can actually square off with our first teams going head to head. The only way that happens is if Tucumcari's players go on strike and we play in the finals.

there is a lot of unhappiness on Ozone's squad: Ravinski hasn't forgotten he was placed on the market, De Souza is mad that nobody thinks the Whalers are HIS team, Kazinczy has got the early signs of Alzheimer's, and Cheng wants to "go home to China" and work for his father in the Politburo. but still they win . . .

right now in the Great 8, all teams hoping to get to the finals have got to get past this enormous roadblock named Stankovic. check out his game ratings -- i've rarely seen such ratings from a SF. i'm thinking the finals at this moment is Stankovic against the disgruntled Whaler squad.

given your expectations and mine, i agree it looks unlikely we will meet again this season. but there is a lot of river yet to pass under the bridge.

You have to look at it this way, not many teams in either league can win games on the road. If you look at the overall record of both conferences, they are both fairly similar. So next week it will be the same story, Great 8 will win it's home games and the Big 8 will return the favor.

the data supports your point: after Saturday's games, the Great 8 has a 22 - 18 edge in games.

less than i would have expected.

kind of an interesting test of the market and prices right now: we have three PGs for sale:
-- ages 29, 29, 31
-- skill points, 101, 107, 108
-- salary, $113,000, $44,000, $63,000

-- starting bids, $450,000, $178,000, and $650,000
-- and, shrewdly, all salaries will be paid by winning bidder. all three will be sold sometime today; the lowest salary has attracted the most attention (views / bookmarks)

let us see how rational the market is . . .
