Yeah you could be right....BUT, finishing in 4th is more profitable than it used to be..
Take the 2nd and 3rd place teams..even know the 3rd place team is giving up HCA, he still gets the same take of the gate and a better draft pick
Old system........2rd gets HCA and 66% of the gate> 3rd get 33% but a better draft pick
New system.......2nd gets HCA and 50% of the gate= 3rd gets 50% but a better draft pick
Most people would almost rather finish in 3rd now...as long as you know you can beat the #2 in a 1 off playoff game.
That is why I said finishing 4th is the goods now. In all drafts, there are about 9 or10 good players out of the 48(Per. Allstar with decent starting skill sets)..So now the 4th seed on either side gets a shot at a decent draftpick maybe picking 9th or 10th. And if you upset the 1 seed, he is doomed with a low draft pick and only 50% of the gate. And the only downfall of finishing 4th is...going on the ROAD to win games.
My conclusion is this...If you juice your team at the deadline to over come HCA, 4th is the place to be...

Gee, and yet the two fourth place teams in your league combined for one late purchase (though admittedly, the fourth place team did pick up a nearly 200k player, there are already 3 players over 100k on that roster). And the first place teams still won, as they are in most every league.

Have you seriously seen just how unprofitable most everyone considers the draft to be? And yet you seem to think that people will throw away revenue during the season to get to fourth place in order to maybe move up a few spots in the draft order for the very small chance of getting a draft pick worth what they paid in scouting points?

The playoffs are not set up as an economic reward for your place in the season. They're set up to determine champions - the footing is now even for all playoff teams (as opposed to before where the #1 could load up because they would expect double the receipts from the games). Now, instead of being guaranteed more money just for finishing first, teams get more money by, get this, winning games to get additional games. The old system made it so #4 would still operate at a loss even if they won the opener, which is ridiculous. First place teams earn plenty of money due to increased fan survey for the current season and for the next one, so if putting them on merely even footing financially in the postseason is inconvenient that's too bad.

You should look more closely when doing reserch on someone's post. 1st..I didn't try to do that this season. Maybe next season. If you look at the standings again you will see a GOLD CUP next to my name. I won the cup,So I already got my ticket to the show(BB3). I wasn't trying to win the double. I always respected BC Toroos for letting a fellow countryman join him in the BB3(gives the people of the country two teams to root for on Wednesday). As you can see, I ran my real squad in taking down the 3rd seed and used the final of my conference to train my PF at PG for 1 position OD training.
(I would have beat him just like I did in the CUP final). I still got 50% for two games and didn't have to pay salaries this week. Yay!!
Now on a different note...After the cup, I won all my road games and used my home games for training and losing a couple and didn't see a loss in attendence...That is crazy and something somebody can exploit which I detail in my post above. The sad part is that all you have to do is win road game and people will show up to the home games even if the fans know you are going to lose on purpose.
Conclusion...This season I will go all out and try to win all of my road games and TIE for my Homegames(doesn't matter if you lose them right, as long as it is not a Rival or TV home game). so I can build enthusiam for my BB3 games.
What games are the most important? In this order...BB3/CUP/ROAD/RIVAL,TV/ Home games/PL
Have you seriously seen just how unprofitable most everyone considers the draft to be?

That is what most people who have never gotten a MVP/HOF with a decent starting skillset draft pick thinks!!!!

it's laughable how people pretend to ignore the obvious and you have to spell it out for them. I'm glad you took the time, cause I couldn't be bothered to repeat myself anymore.
Do you have a problem with teams not being able to compete against top teams in your league cause they never promote out?

You never know.....Last season opened my eyes...Wolph got a so-so MVP 18 yr old with the 31stpick...That is true go look it up..second to last pick in the 2ND ROUND. He sold him to a guy with a level 6 trainer and I would say by the end of this season...he will be on the U-21 team.
There could be a HOF 18 yr old waiting for me this year at pick #12....It could happen

And Wolph getting the guy in the 2nd round was his achievement or the mistake of the others in the league?

Now that is a good question....but if everybody thinks that scouting is a waste of time, then you can say that it was both....+ for wolph for scouting and - for people thinking that scouting is a waste of money..

Hoping for a MVP is always a bet, even more if you do not have the two first pick. Last season, I had a good pick (the second if i'm right), well even with 40 points spend, the draft was a bust. Aiming for fourth because of the draft is, sorry, stupid.

I bet you had a smile on your face when you typed STUPID, didn't you. Or when you typed ASSiduity. Shame on you

And the JBBL isn't all that strange...12K a week is the average scouting spent. and BTW..I never said it was a perfect plan or even or even a plan that is worth doing but it can be done. And if Drafts are random, you just never know what can fall on your lap at 10.
