Dude, your going to build a home studio and try to make it in music starting from ENC and that thriving metropolis of Chocowinity (or is it Little Washington)???
Sorry bro but BAWHAWHAW,
So what genre are we attempting? Rap, metal, punk (eastern NC catchall for I cant play my instrument) , Americana, blues (code for I worship Steve Logan who actually is quite the cool dude), beach and shag, or country (instead of six degrees of Kevin Bacon down here its six degrees of Parmalee)... hold on let me guess Contemporary Christian.
But if your serious AND you get a quality demo disc of material together just send it out to college stations such as WQFS at Guilford or WXDU at Dook (both of which I have been volunteer DJ's for thank you very little) maybe the guys at Nash CC will play it, my old friends down at WSGE in Gastonia will pump you into Charlotte if its the right sound. That's what the Avett Brothers did, worked out pretty well, my boys The Mantra's are college radio darlings. Good luck bro, feel free to reach out for help at any time.
Digressing completely, great college radio story.. My old cohort at WSGE Chuck Wilson went to school at Georgia Stae which has a LEGENDARY station,
