If you are going to make the game engine as easy/logical/mathematically correct/formula wise understandable like some people want, because they are moaning and whining, simply because hattrick is a game where the game engine is as easy/logical/mathematically correct/formula wise understandable, and people always want everything as easy as it can be, than I will not renew my supporter.

I love buzzerbeater because it is not as predictable as it is (but this is only when you look at the team ratings and player ratings, if you look at the real stats, you can easily figure out where you lost the game). Hattrick is too easy and therefore to boring...

I cant believe simply because the team ratings dont perfectly show or perhaps dont prefectly calculate the OD team ratings, and people whine about it, you are considering to make a complete overhaul off the game engine.

My best contribution to this topic is to strongly agree with Astragoth's post. I like the game as it is and the minor changes to improve the game should not be a democratic debate (the earth is flat otherwise). The same brains that "invented" this game should be good enoguh to tune it when necessary.

Big changes could lead to disaster, and it will be always easier to just remove the ratings from the boxscore and thus make people focus on the really important thing of this game: the match itself.

My personal view of the OD bug: I have never noticed it because I don´t look to the rating to understand my matches. If I have a player with great OD and his opponent makes 16/17, then I would complaint. If my player completely stops the opponent but my OD rating is lower, I don´t care. That's my point of view.

because fouls are really low N events, I don't think something went wrong in this match to cause more fouls... i think it just happened randomly... this happens sometimes in real games... players who dont usually get a lot of fouls get a lot of fouls.

From my point of view fouls have a problem.
Most of the times I've had a even match, my team made far more shooting fouls than my opponent, some examples:
Last season playoff (I almost left the game after this)
(8191515) - I played Look Inside, other team push the ball, I had better inside and outside defense ratings: 31 fouls - 16 fouls 22FT - 51 FT lost 82-87

This season lost matches
(8462228) - not the best example, my opponent is better
(8462192) - 14 more FT and meaningless ratings
(8462157) amazing: The other team makes 2 fouls more than mine, but they throw 11 FT more
(8462141) myth killing - I played LI the oponent R&G and I was ahead last quarter, dispite of this I made 29 fouls the other team 19, ratings are a joke

Another point: My players don't make fouls every match, just on some matches.

Now I've realized where the problem is: my team has balanced players, they are pretty good, but they simply can't defend Jump Shot or inside shot pumped players. Every time I played against a team with one or two star players they do lots of shooting fouls.

IMO this is a bug: The overall team rating should count more than the one2one, since a good team defense in real world means help, 2 over 1, etc, but this is not happening in GE...

Best regards

re: Inside vs. Outside:

Both of your points are strong ones. What do you think about this?

Being an outside team offensively and training-wise but having monsters on the defensive end inside? A) although it takes longer to train superior outside players, they seem to sell for more enabling the purchase of top inside defenders.
B) It seems that OD is lacking on a lot of teams, even the ones ( or maybe especially the ones ) that have great outside shooters. C) having quality from behind the arc can be a huge advantage in close games.

Curious as to your opinion on this.

I keep it around mediocre-average. Actually I'm training stamina, since two or three of my start players have down it to inept this season

Second Team:
Slaytanic
A) probably this is true but at the moment I think that the market is not so good so at the end the situation seems the same for centers and playmakers
B) also this is the true but simply because OD is probably the slower training to do and if your guards don't have attack with only defense they aren't a problem for your opponents
C) of course if you train "shorters" you must have good PF and centers and viceversa

I'm used to buy good defensive centers and they give me a good help but they don't guarantee to me the possibility to change tactic cause they've a lack in IS, the problem is the same if you train centers and you've to buy shorters but imho the big difference is that PFs and centers raise quickly than shorters so if I want to keep my team competitive, I've to change them often and when you want to improve you must spend money ;)

as teamratings are not the things we principly use when calculating results for things in the GE.

and what about MR?are they also useless in the calculation?

MR are logically the output not the input....

think of the GE as a big black box... and at some point your PG gets an opportunity for a hot... the GE does its magic and spits out some probability that he scores, that is the matchup rating...

so its not so much used in the calculation as it is the output of the calculation.

EDIT: SOME OF THESE STATEMENTS MIGHT BE MISLEADING.. PLEASE READ (66639.86)

So, if you have to choose between MR and teamratings, you think MR are “closer” to the calculation of GE?
