And ofcourse you are helping your country to get good players and win championships in few years if you get good rookies... if noone payed for draft there would be no young good players!! use your brain a little bit ;)

If no one invested in the draft, the exact same 48 players would still be drafted. Spending money on the draft doesnt improve the players you draft from, just improves your chances of getting one of the better ones. If you dont get that one awesome guy from the draft, someone else in your series will, and they are usually from the same country as you ;)

Some season ago I posted a thread, whose name was Draft shame, about the problems with the draft system like skill distribution, lack of knowledge of height and age, global level of the rookies ecc.

Since that thread, since that draft nothing is changed and in my opinion draft system is still a shame, but what let me disappointed is that no word has been spent about future draft changes...and this make me think that Boston crew is satisfied with the actual system. :-/

Im brand new but it sounds like the draft scouting is a complete ripoff. YOu can buy decent rookies it seems for a million easy. So why spend a million to get no real improvement on a random chance of getting a great player that may or may not fit your team strategy and needs. Spend the million on a rookie that you actually need for your team needs and you still have a chance of getting lucky in teh draft and snagging a few valuable guys to sell anyway. You figure you gonna have to buy the rookie you really wanted off of someone and sell your unneeded rookies to people who wanted them anyway.

i spend 40k a week this season and i have to say never going to do so again more so i will tell you that i am not going to invest 1$ from now on on the draft

Get your facts firs then you can distort them as you please. Mark Twain

I spent 260k (20k/week) and my best player was a 3.9k salary guard with 6th man potential. I fired the other two draftees, they were garbage! Nevertheless, I was first in my division so that may also be the reason for the bad turnout. I had no problems with the draft the last couple seasons.

They are probably satisfied with it... personally, I'm not. I won't ever spend any more money in scouting until something is changed in the current draft system.

I just looked at all the players in the draft results, including mine. I have to say, there weren't any great players. There was a couple players with igh potentials, but no player had salary above $5000.

However, last season, there were one or two really good players in the draft. So, I guess sometimes you can still get someone fantastic, but other times, not so lucky.

I have gone through two drafts now, neither of which was dissapointing.

The first draft I drafted a 5 star MVP and a 5 Star Superstar

This draft I drafted 2 more 5 star players of Superstar and Per Allstar potential.

The amount you invest in the draft should be dependent on your league and the standings but even if your in first like I was you can get good players. Its all about drafting based on probability. The top 3 in my draft board only two of them had been scouted once and the third none whatsoever but based on the distribution of skills that had been revealed to me I spaced my picks based on probabilities and once again it worked.

I'm not saying you specifically but most people here complain about the system when they don't do the proper ranking and prep. Yes the system could be tweaked and improved in small ways but the most important thing is the current system is fair across the board for all players and does not reward players for being more or less skilled/intelligent.

Well, to say the truth, many of my best players come from past drafts. If you look at my past seasons you'll see that I always went to the play offs, so in the past I was surely luckier than this.

However, I'm not saying that I won't invest any more money in scouting because of the bad results and a personal disappointment, but because it is overly random and totally unpredictable. A friend of mine had one the first 5 picks and he's disappointed too (he's not writing because his English is not good), and in general scout indications are neither useful nor reasonable.

My scouts focused on (I mean, they scouted twice) a number of one-two ball draftees... and that's one reason for being disappointed with the draft mechanism: I cannot give any form of directive to scouts.

Second, I actually picked one of my top 4 choices, a 5 ball player... too bad it was an insanely tall PG, that would be a good SF in 2-3 years should he have a good potential... too bad he's a sixth-man... So indications are almost useless.

My opinion is that the draft mechanism got gradually worse since the introduction of potential... and right now I think it's a huge waste of time and computational resources.
