Day-trading is an extreme feature for higher leagues.

I don't understand this line. If you imply daytrading is very common in higher leagues, you are wrong. That is generally not the case, although you may be able to find examples and it may be common in some countries. If you are saying that when done successfully, daytrading is a tool to help you get to higher leagues and succeed there, then I can obviously agree.

Thanks for trying to keep this on topic! :)

to all else, lets keep posts relvent to the D-league suggestion, and any arguments/suggestions/comments, please relate back to how your comment will help/prevent D-league and its proposed implementation.

otherwise, im glad to see there is still interest in this idea.

Someone posted about a hattrick game... does this have a D-league feature? if so, can this be explained or explained perhaps why it specifically doesn't, and how it is similar to here. Thanks peeps!

from what i recall (haven't played in two years), in htt you had the option to have an academy for younger talents.

you controlled the team of the academy and you needed to add it to private academy leagues.

the players from the academy were entirely separate from the active roster. the only way to get them was to sign them permanently to the big league.

however, this system in htt was the only way that younger players got in the game. no draft is available. this is basically the same way younger players get in big soccer clubs. there is no drafting in soccer, at least outside US. i don't know in the us system

personally i would prefer such a system, and it would be a bit D-league like since you could wait a bit longer to promote then to your first team.
If it really the target of a BB manager to train the self drafted talent, it had several advantages:

- you could impact how your future star looks like, and build him withhim your need. Even when you are still talent driven, is your youth squad star a 2.20 Center you couldn't make him a Guard.

- it fit better in the league structure, the draft is designed to let the bottom teams catch in the NBA but here it gives the team who relegates something like an head start.*

- also it makes it possible to get the top talent also to the top teams.*

* as pini would mention here right this is also to mine advantage, so properly totally pointless even when it is reasonable

For the realism freaks, this system also exist in the most pro club of the world ;)

I´d take a talent academy system over the draft in a heartbeat.

Honestly I am not a fan of the D-League idea. While it is a good idea I think that it causes some issues with the balance of this game that makes it great. While having to specialize your training on a few players may be a little bit of a hassle it truly is what makes this game run the way that it does. Having to manage training minutes and gameshape and determining the opportunity cost of making one decision over another is what works here.

Adding a D-league will create a situation where people can train prospects while making runs at the cup and also making a run to win their leagues. This will significantly hurt the lower Division teams because one of the easiest ways for a lower team to generate some good income early is to train young players and sell them to higher teams. Once the D1 and D2 teams have the opportunity for high level training without sacrificing some minutes from better players I think a larger gap between the "haves" and "have nots" will be created.

This game has a very delicate economy with money as well as minutes and training and significant changes could throw the whole thing off balance.

I understand the suggestion though, because at times i wish I could do everything 100% all of the time but I do not think it is beneficial to the game in the end.

You did not understood this specific concept.

On most divisions, there are some players drafted that it is just not possible to train and keep being competitive.
Some of those players has enough potential that, if trained properly, can be valuable to the team.
On higher leagues it gets to be even more sever.

The D-League option will allow all teams to train players to a suitable level before actually returning to their home team to be used.

The training under D-League is slower, so the advantage of training a player on a lower league is basically not altered.

And, as I wrote, the training there will be random, and by that it will create some unusual players, that otherwise would not be developed.

I know Australia is far from Spain, Italy and Poland but it does have 547 players and is the 25th biggest nation out of the 98 in the game In our top league we have several teams from season 8, 9 and even one (me!) from season 10. Whitebeard a team from season 9 just won the national championship last season.

So it is possible for younger teams to rise up in medium sized nations, I don't know why it is so hard in the massive ones.

Part of it is the longer path.

If you start in a 4th league in Germany - probably a "low sublevel one" (like IV.1 or such), you might be stuck for 2-3 seasons there because you cannot really pass by the relegated teams. Once you get promoted, it takes another 3-5 seasons for the next level, and then you have to establish for another 2-3 seasons till you are ready to compete for promotion (and you still need some luck with the relegated team). Each league level takes 3-5 seasons to promote, if the league you´re entering is competitive and active imho. The first level might go quicker.

With some luck in the draft or daytrading you might make a step every 2-3 seasons, but that´s still 8-12 seasons in Italy or Spain and at least 6-8 in Germany. There´s only so much you can speed this up by excellent management, actually, I think a promotion every 4 seasons (without tanking or relegating in between) is already an upper tier management and coaching. Now we´re down to simple counting ...

I am in no doubt it is much tougher there. In Australia many managers can win division IV in their first season, obviously only 1/16 but I did it and I know a lot of others that have done it. Division III is much harder. I won it my first season but I only know of three other teams ever in Australia that went IV, III, II in their first three seasons and three of these four ended up getting relegated at some stage. It really depends on what league you are in and the quality of the demotees. If you are in a league and the demotee was only semi-active you can probably move up easily, but if you get a tanker or a yo-yo team drop down into your league you are in trouble.
