if you bid in time the price you like to spend, you will often get your player - if not any other person thing he is more worth then that but normally such a behaviour kill bidding wars pretty fast before they appear.

So you are worried, that player are traded above the TPE - without the extension of the deadline i am worried about selling players below their market value. If you choose a to low minimum bid, and your intrest are "schnäppchenjäger"(a german word for person who like to buy cheap), they will wait till the clock run down and try to overbid in the last second and probadly not the sum this player is worth for then i beleive they will bid a sum who is maybe 1-4 steps over the actual bid because they only had to be the highest bidder at the end. i believe this willonly work with bid agents in the ebay style, but for me the bidding wars are also fun.

@KingKock: the gm running this game in their spare time, and that will be just uneccessary work for them. And only a free market guarantees, are normal price development and buissness which is to good for the buyers.

i think it would be good if they could set it up like a real trade agreement, where if 1 club has some1 for sale another club could offer like one of there players and some cash or at the end of the season the lower clubs could offer there trade pick and stuff like that.

There is actually nothing stopping you from "trading" players at the moment, you just have to use the transfer market and make sure all the "traded" players sell for market value.

Someone offered me a trade last week, for example. The problem I see with trades of this kind is that someone usually loses. That's why I turned him down. With the transfer market you are more likely to get a fair price, sometimes you just need to be patient.

The type of system you want would make cheating too easy. Seriously, the transfer market may not be perfect but in my mind it is the perfect solution to an imperfect world.

I could see the point about the dial-up thing. I just feel that a deadline should be a deadline is all.

I'm not really worried about the players being above TE. It's the fact that the system gives you a warning about over pricing your players when selling them. But with the bidding system that doesn't have a 'set' deadline, that in itself allows overpricing to happen.

ex. I'm bidding on Joe Schmoe and the deadline is set for 6:00:00 a.m. July 6, 2009

So currently I have bid to the 'estimated' TE on him, whiich is fine. But at the last second another owner comes and places a bid on Joe Schmoe for $11,000. Placing that bid just added 3 min to the clock. So this other owner and myself go back and forth for another several bids and 30 more minutes. The final bid ends up being $30,000.

So the player is won above market value. Ok I'm fine with the overpaying thing. As I stated in my original post, if I want a player I'm going to get him. But I also feel that the deadline should stop when it says it's supposed to stop. If it were more like E-bay I'd be happy. I don't mind losing a player to another owner "IF" we both know when the deadline is and it does not extend past that. Last second bids are part of the game.

I don't see your point. Guys who are worth $10,000 are in abundance. If he's really worth $10,000 you can probably find another dozen guys just like him within a 24 hour period. Why not just accept that you didn't get him and move on?

No, he is not above market value. The very fact that there was a bid war suggests that you did pay market value. He went above the transfer price estimate but that's not the same thing.

I'm not sure what this will accomplish, except possibly reducing the prices players are sold for?

So u want to overpay ALL the time instead of possibly getting a decent deal on players? Cool, Knock yourself out with that! But some of the rest of us might not want to grossly overpay for our players. Especially the guys that are just starting out trying to build a team w limited funds. Your concept might be ok for a mid-high tier team, but the lower tier teams don't have $$$ pouring out the doors of our area and we are looking for the best deals possible.
