Thanks for letting me know about this player but I will not be tracking him. As I said, I will not be tracking anyone 19 or younger with starter potential or lower. It is possible that if you make him a very balanced player that he would have a small chance to make the team (I would go for making the 6 guards skills close to equal). However, the 18 yr old pool of players is pretty deep.

In any case, as I suggested in my original post, send a BB-mail to the U21 manager when he hits 20 with his skills.

Hi Dauv,

As you can see above, my cut-off for 20 yr old centres is somewhere in the $22,500 salary range at the beginning of the season. I do not think he has much of a chance to make the team.

However, if you want training suggestions or general help with the game, do not hesitate to ask anything.

Thanks!
Chuck

Just a general note. Please read my message above before posting your players here and make sure that they meet or are close to the established criteria. I know salary is not a great measure of a player, so there is some flexibiliy there. But if your player does not meet the salary criteria it is a must for him to have great secondary skills or to be very balanced.

If you want general help, do not hesitate to send me a BB-mail. But this thread should be for U21 potentials or questions about them.

Also, if your player has already been mentioned in this thread, please send updates to my BB-mail only. I do not want to get this thread too cluttered. If you are worried that your player will get lost in the shuffle or you want a second opinion, please feel free to also send BB-mails to RIP. He is tracking the same players - it is just that he is doing it for the NT instead of the U21.

Finally, do not forget that everyone can read these forums. If you want your player's skills to be kept private, BB-mail is the best method of communication.

Thanks!

Definitely. Just curious - what are your training plans for him? What level of trainer and doctor do you have? How many positions are you training?

Hopefully you will start a training rotation - rebounding is nice to have for a C but the other inside skills are also useful. ;-) Also, once you start to push one or two inside skills much higher than the others, training starts to become inefficient.

Hit me up by BB-mail if you would prefer to take this discussion in private.

So far this season I have only focused on training my 2 centers, the next two or three weeks will be Inside Defense, then shot blocking. I will probally spend a couple weeks after that doing free throws for the team. I have a level 4 trainer and a level 1 doctor.

I am glad to head that you will make him more rounded. My personal suggestion is to only do team training like free throws when you have trouble with your minutes (can't get your best trainees 48 minutes, or it is a week where you only have 2 games, for example).

Also, when you have the cash I suggest a better trainer and doctor. Level 4 is ok but any extra edge will be what differentiates your player from the rest. Something else to consider - with a level 1 doctor you have a chance of getting a 5 week injury - which could really set your player's development back. I think with a level 5 doctor the maximum injury time is 2 weeks (even those are rare) and most injuries heal immediately after the game.

are you sure there's a max injury time?
I read in some american forum that a guy got injured for 4 weeks and he apparently has a level 6 doctor with taping specialty.

The max injury time is 5 weeks but that's if you have a level 1 doctor (this one I know for sure).

I'm not 100% on the max injury time for the other levels but in my experience for a level 5 the max time is 2 weeks. I have seen a lot of injuries in my time and the most I have ever had is 2 weeks and even then I have trouble remembering the last time I had one.

Also, this is the way the injury system works: any time a player gets fouled, he has a chance of being injured. Where the doctor comes in is there is a function that reduces the length of the injury, based on the level of the doctor. A higher level doctor can even heal the player to the point where it is like he never got injured in the 1st place.

So, if 5 weeks is the max, I have a hard time believing that a level 6 doctor would only reduce the injury time to 4 weeks. But I suppose anything is possible.
