Excellent suggestions...

+/- has been suggested multiple time. I assume it would require some extra bookkeeping to the game engine...maybe we'll get it one day. :-)

Maybe there's someone who has spreadsheet format on this formula... The formula is freakin' long...

I don`t know about NBA, but Euroleague should use quite simple one, as they can say eff any time during the game... This would be really useful as we could see if our leaders really are the team leaders... The rating that we have now is kind a useless for me, course it shows skills not what he done in game... This could even be visible during life games in statistics... And yes it something like eff = Points - missed shots + total Rebounds + Steals + Blocks + Assist - turnover...

No, I think its the same formula. Its just that Europeans are better in math...

Euroleague uses this formula to count out effectiveness rating points

eff=points scored+rebounds+steals+assists+blocks+fouls against player-(shots missed(FG+FT)+blocks received+turnovers+fouls)

so in this case we don`t have: fouls against player(X), blocks received(Y) stats in BB.

I would like to see this changing current player ratings in game stats as soon as possible...

So from ranting I get now from stats I could think that Ulba did well job and so on, but if I count his effectiveness rating points I see that he wasn`t good at all and almost played for my opponent not for my team.

If player gets minus in his eff so that mean he plays as you opponent not as a team member, this could be considered (at any time of game) as he have to sit down on the bench and think a little bit about his performance before coming back on court (but this would be to difficult to implement into GE though)

all this would solve MVP voting problems... and we could know MVP of each game as well as all-star games, cup finals, league finals...
We could even have new stats on league page "average eff" so leader would be MVP of regular season in the end of the season...

I think they could add something like that to the season stats page. The risk, as i see it, is that some inexperienced users might be fooled by those numbers and end up getting robbed at the transfer market. The current ratings are not perfect but gives a better estimation of the players performance on court.

Well I don't think that rating system that we have now gives better estimation than Euro rating system. BB's have to change that because it's far from good...

I think the current is better for evaluating the strength of players, since it is heavily influenced by the skills of the players. The Euro rating system would give a better estimation of the opponents rather than the player himself. It would be fun however. Thats just my opinion.

this is a solution there everybody would be happy after all...

I would really like to see this next season as it should not be difficult to implement and as I wanna know each match MVP all the time. And this would save some server resources during update each off-season as we wont need MVP voting anymore. So every user would know why that and not other player got MVP award, course of everything will be clear and simple.

Having a game MVP would not make a difference with the season MVP whatsoever - they would remain different entities.
